Description
Scammer sent an email on behalf of Best Buy Geek Squad indicating we would be charged $535.10 automatically to renew our Geek Squad Service on 9/24. If we wanted to discontinue service we should call which I believer was (601) 210 8664. We called and we directed to call a Ryan Hoffmanwho was named as Billing Manager, Geek Squad. His nunber was 214 249 3500. Scammer "Ryan Hoffman" then connected us with another person whose name I cannot remember (Indian Accent) who indicated that he would refund our payment that was supposedly automatically taken out of our account yesterday. He asked about our bank and asked us to sign into our account so he could transfer the refund of $535.10 into our account by wire transfer. He then proceeded to go through a series of websites which included a black screen with white letters which listed Refund ID as Geek9337860, Cancellation ID as GS1804, Billing Manager Code as BMG30786 UV ID as 121440984 and UV Password as 66631. In the process of this exercise I mistakenly typeed in an extra zero in the amount that was supposedly going to be refunded to me. The Fraudster said, "no dollar signs or period" just type in 50000 for $500 dollars. I inadvertantly typed in 500000 which seemed to throw him off balance although I didn't realize it at the time. He then suggested we use my debit card for the refund which he said should be two paymenhts of %500 and and a second for $35.10. I couldn't find my personal bank card - which he wanted me to use. I only had my business Checking card. He then took me back to the Better Business Bureau website (Fake) and showed me a list of other companies that Geek Squad supposedly cooperated with including Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Lowes, Kroger, etc. I suggested Walgreens but he didn't like that one and suggested I drive to CVS. He ultimately wanted me to buy 4 Sephora 4 gift cards. I hung up on him at that point.
