BBB Warns of Online Employment Scams

March 16, 2017

Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Saskatchewan would like to notify the public of an increased occurrence of illegitimate organizations posting employment or study-abroad opportunities on job search websites, such as Glassdoor and Monster, Inc., and using local business addresses.

The BBB has conducted an investigation into the following:

  • Colero Education Center -
  • Canada Class Base -
  • Genius Association -
  • Saskatoon Recruiters -

We have found that these websites and organizations appear to be fraudulent. The stated office addresses on file with the BBB belong to other reputable businesses in Saskatoon and Regina, who have no dealings with the above mentioned organizations. The IP address for these business websites appear to be deriving from the Netherlands and Russia.

Individuals who have accepted the posted positions by any of these organizations have been asked to transfer money through bitcoin, ATMs, or money transfers.

The names of these organizations have been changed on an ongoing basis as they are identified as fraudulent by the public. Vigilance is required.

Important tips:

  • Be suspect of any potential employer that only wants to interview you over the phone.
  • Asks for the wiring of money, supplies, or othre upfront expenses.
  • Asks to fill out an online form requesting personal data, like your Social Insurance Number and bank accounts.
  • Be cautious of positions promising big earnings with no experience required.
  • Check company licensing and references where applicable.
