Approximately 2 month ago I purchased a 2016 ***** equinox from drive one. They presented me a CarFax showing an excellent service record. I hadnt driven the car **** miles when the check engine light came on and the car started stalling out. I took the car to a trustworthy mechanic who told me that no oil was showing on the dipstick and they added two quarts of oil and a quart of cleaner, let it idle for twenty minutes then drained it and what came out was black as tar. He stated there is no way a vehicle with an excellent service record would have oil that looked like that after adding 3 quarts of translucent fluid to it, after all a vehicle only holds 5 quarts of oil. He said theres no way the vehicle was serviced in November as they are showing on their CarFax. This is a predatory company, targeting individuals, already struggling without remorse or conscious. These predatory companies need to be held accountable. I would have settled for them offering to pay the repair bill and walked away satisfied, but they refused. They said you bought it, its your problem not ours. To me this plainly states they are very aware, they are knowing selling less than stellar vehicles to desperate individuals. Predatory companies need to be shut down, they need to be held accountable if they sell a vehicle they cant even be driven for **** miles they should be responsible to pay for the repair bill. I had taken the vehicle to two different places both stated there is no way this vehicle was serviced correctly as the CarFax shows. CarFax is supposed to be to help consumers feel comfortable in their purchases and any company falsifying the document should be held liable. Now I am out almost a thousand dollars in repairs bill on a 2016 Equinox with with only ****** miles and an excellent service record per the CarFax. Two different mechanics at two different shops told me the damage done to the vehicle was for a repeated improper service.
