No stars but it makes me do at least one. When retrieving my car after it was towed by this company, they told me it would be $300. Then when arriving to pick it up they kept adding on fees which was very fishy. Had to pay though in order to get my car. Then the guy took a photo of my license and registration and title with his private phone and refused to delete it off his phone in front of me after he submitted it to the city. This company and this employee is a horrible business and should be investigated.Review from Chris B

I want to WARN ANYONE who wants to do business with Retriever Towing. I live in *****, ****** and my truck was stolen from me and taken to the Beaverton area. It was an old **** Dodge Dakota, the paint was wearing off of it, and it was just not worth much money. The thieves stripped the truck down to just the cab and spray painted it and leaving it worth nothing. A police officer told me that he was going to flatten the tires and then call a towing company to come and get it, when I told him that I was a 74 year old retired man on Social Security and didn't have a means to come and get it or even have a place to put it . . . to let the thieves have it!! But, he told me that he could flatten the tires and call a tow company and have it towed and that they tow company could then sell it to get their money back. Well, I just received a phone call from Retriever Towing telling me that I owed them $2,428. They charged me $488 to tow my truck and charged me storage until they sold it for $150. I am AMAZED that such thievery can be done to old people (or anyone) and there is nothing that can be done. If the ****** police officer would have just done what I asked and let the thieves have it, it could still be driving around or might have been sold by them. Now, I am left with nothing I can do . . . but pay maybe $25 a month or so for EVER.Review from Brian P

My car was towed and stored by Retriever Towing in September 2021. It was a write-off. There was a Possessary Lien taken out two days later and an invoice for towing and storage on the same date. When I came to collect a few things a couple of days later I asked about payment and was told everything was under control - the acquisition by the lien and subsequent auction? As I never heard anything further, I presumed everything was in order. Then I received a letter for charges in December 2023 over two years after the event! There were inconsistencies in towing and storage charges and unexplained additional charges in the documents. I asked for clarification but none was received.I have filed a complaint with the ****** ********** of ******** Protection. That department made me aware of a ********** of ******* case against Retriever's business practices.I see there is an extensive record of BBB complaints against Retriever Towing and felt it appropriate to add to the inventory.BXPReview from Darren A

The company towed my car due to the company towing vehicles at the wrong address. My address is on SE Pine St at an apartment complex, which from my understanding does not require a permit but according to the company, the address was on ****************************, which is two blocks north of my residence.I'm filing a Police report.on this company..Review from KIRK P

BAD, BAD, PREDATORY TOW COMPANY! BLATANT!This tow-company is the worst, most predatory, thieving tow company in our region. They 'sell' towing 'contracts' to large-scale apartment complexes. They pitch sales-incentives to these large apartment communities and their 'management' to expand their 'dragnet' of easy money.Their personnel are rude, even instigative of conflict. Very foul-mouthed drivers, as recently witnessed three days prior to this review. They tow cars that have proper parking credentials, and generate a large part of their ill-earned revenue by preying on the poor tenants that can't afford the tow charges, hence, after a brief period of time, this towing cabal ends up selling these cars at auction. It's barely-legal operations in actions, causes undue stress on law-abiding tenants, as these tow-drivers park the tow-truck and sneak around on foot, choosing their target cars for the middle of the night. it unnerves tenants that see these dark-clothed people looking in their cars and roaming these large parking lots. I fear a tow driver could get mortally hurt by a tenant, somewhere, with a bad case of nerves and an itchy trigger-finger!ALSO, they have damaged several vehicles by dropping cars very hard on the pavement! I've seen a snapped axle when they let one car down, and three other cars incur body damage. If they tow your car, beware, it will be at a high risk of being damaged by them!Simply? They are crooks and many, many citizens would like the owner jailed. NEVER, EVER USE THEM FOR YOUR OWN TOWING NEEDS! Call Speed's or other reputable companies.Review from De R

This company makes their money by preying on poor people and hoping that they don't have the time or energy to fight their illegal tows. Their dispatch staff is rude, they smoke in the 'office', they dont care about damage to cars and they are all racist. If your building management uses them for their lots, encourage them to change.Review from Vera V

This company is a predatory tow company. The employees are rude and not helpful. My apartment manager gave me the wrong parking tags for my apartments. I had the tags for weeks with no issue. Then all of the sudden, it was an issue. When I confronted my manager he assured me it was his mistake and would fix it. Then, later, I imagine when he saw how high the prices are, he went back on his word, and only paid for 1 of the cars not both. Even tho he admitted his mistakes. And gave me a verbal agreement that he would pay it. And his boss also gave me a verbal agreement that both would be returned. It's been 5 days and I still don't have my car. I've retained a lawyer and will be suing. This company has horrible reviews on every platform. I don't understand why they are allowed to still be around. I believe they worked with the managers to tow cars of people they have a problem with, as my neighbor said told me that's how they operate. The other night I recorded the tow truck just sitting in the apartments waiting for someone to tow.Review from Breann N

This "company" is criminal. FYI: they were sued in January by the ****** ********** of ******* for predatory practices. My husband's car was towed in the middle of the night for "double parking" in front of our own driveway. My truck was parked in the driveway itself. He woke up at 5am in a panic because he thought his car was stolen. He called the police who then informed him it was towed by Retriever Towing. When we picked the car up the following day, the tow truck driver cited our HOA (which doesn't even have a website) as the reason for towing his car. This policy was never communicated to us. For everyone else who reads this, "as of Jan. 1, 2018, a tower needs to get signed authorization from the owner of the parking lot before towing the vehicle. The tower needs to keep a copy of the signed authorization for at least two years and provide a copy upon request at no additional charge."If you're towed by this company, request copies of BOTH the signed authorization, and your vehicle photos. They are required by law to provide these to you upon request. I urge everyone to read up on Towing at the ****** *** Consumer Protection and ****** Public Law websites:1) *************************************************************************************) ********************************************* We were charged $424 for the release of the vehicle and the tower was incredibly rude, threatening, and argued with my husband every step of the way. How is it right to tow our own vehicle that was parked in front of OUR driveway? Without warning? If a tow wasn't requested by the tenant/homeowner, you shouldn't have the right to tow. You're literally stealing peoples' vehicles and holding them for ******. The tower bragged about towing our neighbor's vehicles before, and said, "I've gotta make money somehow." We live in a predominately PoC and low income neighborhood. I sincerely hope you'll rethink taking advantage of innocent people as a way to make a living.Review from Nora M

My son sold his car and the man abandoned it on the roadside. We got a letter in August of 2018 about it sent all the paperwork to them and its been crickets until 5 yrs later and they want ****. We have a bill of sale, and turned in paperwork to the dmv in 2018. This is a predator company and needs to be shut down.
