I signed a contract at the beginning of April 2022 with ***** Roofing to do a roof on a 12-plex apartment complex. I paid 1/2 down of $27,400 on 4-14-2022. I was told by ***************************** that they could start the roof in May 2022. He then said due to weather delays they were getting behind and wouldn't be able to start until beginning of June 2022. That then became end of June 2022 with a specific date of **** they'd start. I have an active leak that I had to ask him to tarp off and can count 10 texts asking for it to be done because each time he said it'd get done it did not and was finally done on May 24th. I asked for verification they were licensed before they'd begin work in June as I saw on the *** website that their license had lapsed. I didn't want them to begin work if they were not current on their license. **** I was offered to be refunded my down payment by ** because he felt the trust wasn't there anymore. He said he could deliver my refund **** then the excuse became a bill hit their account and he couldn't give me my money back until July 1st. My down payment shouldn't be used to float other jobs. He said he needed it to purchase the material for my roof, none has been purchased or delivered as of today's writing on 9-5-2022! July 1st came and I offered again if we could meet to be refunded, he was then stuck in traffic and couldn't make it until after banks closed. I offered to meet him at his bank the next morning when they opened, he said he was going out of town for the holiday weekend and couldn't. I paid my down payment with my credit card. I now have an open dispute with them to try and get my down payment back. I reached out to ** once again this morning to see if he'd do the right thing and refund me to drop the open dispute with my credit card, no response. I found another number and called it to talk to the owner ********* who now will not answer my calls after updating him/emailing him the contract/payment verification I have.
