Overview

Consumers should note, when dealing with debt collection companies, that there are obligations outlined by law governing collection practices, especially those conducted by a third party collector (as opposed to a direct employee of the firm to which money is owed). You are encouraged to seek documentation of the debt as stated by the collector. It should also be noted that a debt collection company's customer is the company to which the debt is owed, not the consumer who owes the money to that company. The BBB processes complaints against companies as filed by their clients. As such, the BBB will make complaints from consumers known to the company, but will only pursue formal disputes against a collection agency when that disagreement is between the collector and the company with which it has made an agreement to pursue repayment. If you feel that the company is not acting within the confines of the law, or need advice concerning the legitimacy of the debt, the BBB suggests that you contact the Oklahoma Office of Consumer Credit at (405) 521-3653.

Licensing information is provided in the BBB Business Profiles to inform the public about industries that may require professional licensing, bonding, or registration. Better Business Bureau encourages you to check with the appropriate agency to be certain any requirements are currently being met.

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.
