BBB Torch Scholarships Open to North Alabama High School Juniors and Seniors
High School juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for the Better Business Bureau’s 13th Annual Torch Scholarships. The BBB will award $1,000 scholarships to students who are selected for their high achievements in leadership, community involvement and an essay on what marketplace ethics means to them.

Leadership 20%
· Describe any extra curricular school related activities. Include awards/honors or offices held.
· List past and present employers and describe positions held (if applicable, not required).
Community Service 20%
· Describe activities outside of school and within your community, such as church or special community activities.
Academic 10%
· Enclose a copy of most recent transcripts
· Describe post secondary education plans
· Describe awards received relating to your academic achievements
Essay 50%
· Write an essay (400 words or less) on the importance of ethics in business and our community. Discuss your viewpoints and give examples, as applicable. You may want to discuss how marketplace ethics involves integrity, honesty and civility in our community.
· All essays become property of the BBB. Winners’ names may be released to the public and news media for promotional purposes.
