I had several quotes from several mortgage brokers and it looked as though it was not going to be beneficial to re-finance.

A friend recommended Christopher ** ** **** with this company and after going back and forth with John ****** his associate via email explaining I was not sure it would work finally spoke with Mr ** ** ***** He kept telling me he could get me a great rate, never disclosed any of the details, advising me he needed a credit card to verify my credit score, as all the others had checked my score I thought nothing of it. New South Mortgage came back with a ridiculous high rate that made absolutely no sense in me refinancing I would add so much to my mortgage it would take forever to recoup it back. I explained that to Mr ** *****
A couple of days later I saw I had been charged over $40 on the credit card I had give to verify my credit standing for a credit check from this company - if you are going to deceitfully get the card number at least have the decency to tell me you are going to charge me for the credit check that none of the competitors did and I did not authorize, nor would I have.
I am guessing by their noncompetitive rates that is one way for them to make money.

We are contacting the customer and determining more details.

Per our notes in the file, the loan officer received verbal authorization to run credit and charge the customer for the report. Notes in file says customer was quoted 2.8% by a competitor and we offered 2.99% based on cash out refinance request. Lender rates are determined by credit score. New South Mortgage never makes money off running credit reports and we pay the third party credit vendor repository EXACTLY the amount we are charged for the reports. A copy of the report with the invoice was sent to the customer.
