We rented ********** *** from Outer Beaches Realty from 10/16 -10/23/21, and will NEVER rent from this realty again as long it is within our power to not do so. Their lack of concern and respect for the customer is the worst we have ever experienced. The refrigerator and freexer in the home we rented smelled of fish or raw meat. We called Outer Beaches about the problem on Monday and they sent out a Maint Tech to check on the problem, and to his credit he cleaned the fridge shelves and drawers, this is after my wife had done so on Sunday evening. He asked for my permission to use a bleach cleaner and I told him Yes, it would kill the fowl order. Later that evening the smell was back and stronger in the freezer unit. I called Outer Beaches the next day, Tuesday, October 19, and explained our problem to **** and she suggested that we go buy BBQ charcoal and put that in the fridge and freezer unit to absorb the odor. I have spoken with **** again and she did say that she said she was sorry for the situation, but I don't recall that but will acknowledge that she said she did say sorry. I asked about some sort of refund or credit since the fridge was so bad it was basically unusable, she said she would have Manager call me back later since she had just gotten back from vacation. As of today, Wednesday, October 27, I am still awaiting the call from the manager, this is after other voicemail messages, calls and responses to their customer survey. I called again today asking to speak with a manager and was put on hold for 10 minutes when the finally returned to the lady who answered the call originally, ****. I told her I was sorry I had to vent on her but she ask what the problem was so I told her.
We also had a smoke alarm battery go out and the smoke alarm was sounding when we returned on Wednesday, October 20, I had to call twice and demand that a Maint Tech be sent out since I did not have a ladder to reach the alarm. I was told on the second call "oh I didn't realize you needed a Tech tonight" I asked how do you expect us to sleep with a smoke alarm beeping. The Tech responded after the second call and came out a quick as he could. He too was very professional and respectful and did his job. He mentioned that the first notice for service came it right before the second notice to him and that it was post stamped 38 minutes earlier. He was frustrated as well at the call center for not forwarding the request for service upon the first call. She did explain to me that it was a fishing community and it was fishing season and those things just happen.
My main issue with Outer Beaches Realty is the fact that the manager(s) won't even so me the respect to even return my phone or messages, much less do anything. At this point I am done with them and will do everything in my power to make sure everyone else who thinks of renting from them will know how they handle their customers.Review from Amy J

We rented 3's a Charm from May 9-16, 2021 and the trouble started on Friday, May 7th with a phone call to let me know that the floor inside the front entrance was "soft" and that it was a safety issue that would be fixed the day after we arrived. At that point, I appreciated the company calling to let me know...except the rotting floor was the least of the problems.
We arrived Sunday night and the arrangements that were supposed to be in place so we could avoid going through the front door (where the floorboards were "soft") were not in place. I ended up using the keycode I was given to go through the front door only to find that the floor wasn't "soft", it was rotting and dangerous. Still, we avoided using the front door to unload our luggage and were thankful that the contractor is supposed to come the next morning... Of course, they didn't arrive as scheduled and I had to call the office multiple times and ended up threatening them with a lawsuit because someone could've fallen through the floor. They finally arrived on Wednesday to repair the floor.
We woke up Monday to cook breakfast...except the stove is broken, the oven didn't work and there was no phone, internet or satellite either.
We rented golf carts for the week and attempted to plug them into the outlets under the house but they were rusty and began to smoke.
We walked the four flights of stairs (around the rotting floor that didn't get fixed as promised on Monday) because the elevator couldn't be called from the ground floor and eventually it became stuck on Tuesday between the 3rd and 4th floors...thank God nobody was in it at the time...they may still be there because we called the office again, and nobody showed to fix it.
We were unable to cook on the grill either (as a last resort to the stove and oven)because the propane line was leaking due to a loose regulator valve.
After NUMEROUS calls to the realty agency, we ended up visiting the office where they were extremely rude. They offered us a *** gift certificate but told me I'd have to drive 20 mins to their **** office to pick it ******** wasn't going to even cover a single meal since we had 10 people in the house. **** from the Hatteras realty office was extremely rude and even went so far as to tell us it was our fault because they called us Friday before we checked in to tell us about the floor.
After three days of calling incessantly, I finally gave up trying to get anyone from Outer Beaches to resolve the issues. (They did decide to address the major safety issues by fixing the outlets and floor after I threatened to plug in the golf carts which could result in a fire and fall through the rotting floor in order to sue them.) All of the other "minor" issues (stove, oven, elevator, dryer, internet) were never fixed or even addressed with a service call.
Avoid this company at all costs!!! They will take your money, but if you experience any sort of issue, their customer service is AWFUL to to point of being neglectful and hazardous. I've had other renters reach out to me who read my Facebook review and shared similar experiences where their requests for help went unanswered and there was no resolution or restitution. If you are an owner, avoid this company because they do NOT inspect or care for the houses even though I'm sure they're quick to pocket their commission.
