I am currently losing the opportunity to be hired for my dream job at **************** because the background check is inexplicably "hung up with the county" after nearly three weeks. I provided everything they requested immediately, and they stated on the telephone today that "they are not responsible for the time it takes to complete the verification," though I will be unable to accept the position (which requires relocation) directly due to Sterling's delays and unwillingness to follow up. Clearly based on the reviews, this company is unreliable and negatively impacting people's lives.Sterling Talent Solutions Response

I found my dream job earlier in March, signed the offer and right away started the background check process (March 14th). I checked right away their estimated time and it gave me April 4th. My starting date its April 1st and today its actually my last day at my current job. As soon as I saw their estimated time I called them explained that my first day was April 1st. I provided EVERYTHING I could. Im from ******, so they explained that it could take longer, but you know what? I was pro-active and provided A LOT OF INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION. On March 22nd I got an email stating my new estimated time would be March 25th. So that date came, nothing. I called them and said they were having problems with one company I worked many years ago in ****** and that my estimated time was April 4th again (I have an email stating it would be done by the 25th, so I'm planning to *** for any lost wages). Now, on the 26th they came back to me asking for a lot of stuff. Which I provided. The only thing I couldn't provide was aaaaall my paystubs. Look, I was being paid weekly, I worked there for little over 3 years. There's no way I have more than 160 paystubs. I provided what I had which were more than 15. I provided contributions made to the mexican government, I provided all my work history from a government entity. I had the companys General Manager e-mail sterling through the company email stating I worked there, ccing the company's owner. Now, its not my fault that last year one of their plants (main one) closed and they moved everything to the secondary plant (now main). But they can use ****** maps, it still shows. Plus, all the documentation I have provided, you have to be doing this on purpose for my background not to get verified. I have escalated all of this to my new employer (Sterlings client) and they will also hurry sterling up since this is nuts. I have provided endless proff and documentation, even emails with clients where I copied my personal e-mail.Sterling Talent Solutions Response

This company is a joke. I have NEVER encounter such an inefficient system for background checks. Never have I seen something so inefficient. They also ask you for w2s, which I don't mind providing but they want you to do all the work for them. I lost our on a job opportunity because of this company. I have never had any issues with a background check ever before. They always come back within 48 hours, no problem. The Sterling process is ridiculous! They make you provide all your information about jobs, addresses, education. I worked for a government agency for 9 years and Sterling came back and asked me for W2s or tax records for ALL 9 YEARS! Even if I had those documents I'm not sending them to this company. That is literally your job. I hope I never encounter another employer that uses this company.Sterling Talent Solutions Response

Same situation as other reviewers, definitely a pattern of poor services here. My background check was initiated on 1/7/24, it is 2/5 today and this is still on-going. In same situation as others, getting start dates pushed due to constant delays with no real updates (no reasons provided, support just stating it's in the works).Sterling Talent Solutions Response

If I could leave them no stars I would!! I have been waiting on my background check since October of 2023!! I call once a week to get my status of my background and every time it keeps getting pushed back further and further. At this point sterling is just pointless!! Your messing with peoples source of income. They say they expedite it every week and I find that false as well. There should be no reason Im going on month 4 of no background check! They wont let you speak to a manager or higher up either, all they say is they are working on it or they will email you once they have spoke with someone. If I got a ***** for every time I have heard that I would be rich right now. This has to be the worst background company ever. I applied somewhere else and my background check came back within a week while sterlings is still pending.Sterling Talent Solutions Response

Echoing the sentiments of every other one star review here . Got hired about 3 weeks ago and every time the *** date comes , Sterling pushes it back 5 more days . I have to agree with the majority of reviewers about this company. I had the pleasure of working with Sterling as part of my onboarding process on four different occasions. The processing times make no sense. On the first two occasions, they did a background check for a contracting company that handles temporary employees. The issue with the first background check was understandable, but the second one was delayed because Sterling wanted a copy of a diploma instead of accepting the actual educational transcripts, and there was a disagreement between them and a past employer because the employer stated that they were very intrusive. 2 months after receiving the 2nd back ground check, I needed a 3rd to transfer from a contractor to an employee in the same company I just received a background check for. The only change in my background was a 2-month period of employment that was added to my resume. I had a tentative start date with this company so that I would be able to receive certain benefits, and everyone needed the process to be completed promptly, except Sterling. The company assumed that Sterling would be promptly since I had just gone through a background check with this same company a couple of months before their request. Unfortunately, this was still a very tedious process full of inefficiency, incompetence, and a complete lack of professionalism. The employer eventually told Sterling to omit certain things because everyone else seemed to have the information needed to move forward besides Sterling.Their system seems to involve a lack of communication between their employees, which causes delays, unecessarily repeated actions, and avoidable frustrations. Some information is needed from this company, but maybe this company should retain the information they gather and then figure out what has changed since the last time, instead of acting like they have never done research on a prospective employee.
