Buyer beware! DO NOT USE NATIONAL AIR! COSTCO installed our HVAC system using National Air as the Installer. They did a terrible job!… Our HVAC replacement resulted from poor craftsman quality during the unit's installation. Ducting - Supply and return plenum. At least one flexible supply duct was separated from the cool-air discharge plenum - blowing a considerable percentage of the cooled air supply into the attic versus the living area. Other flexible ducts were unsupported and stacked upon one another, causing some duct collapse. Regarding the return air plenum, a large opening was noted. The hole was about 2 inches by 18 inches - allowing warm attic air to be drawn into the return plenum, causing excess evaporator loading, and inhibiting some amount of living area return air from re-entering the system for cooling. Water collection - The Condensation pan and associated level switch. While the evaporator drain switch was installed, minimal condensation was draining from it. The condensate drain pan level switch could not be found - It's difficult to determine if it was installed in the wrong location - or at all. The entire unit and pan were found to be tilted about one inch toward the evaporator side of the unit - causing water to collect in the evaporator opposite to where the evaporator level switch was installed. The evaporator was holding water because of this. Sensing line leakage - bypassing pan showed considerable condensation leaking from a sensing line at the base of the evaporator installed with a small bulkhead/conduit fitting. This line trailed outside the pan, allowing water to bypass the pan dripping onto the attic floor and into ceiling joists. The water flowed into a downstairs adjacent bedroom through the ceiling through an energized smoke detector. This wetting carpets downstairs, some ceiling, and an appreciable amount of attic flooring and insulation.
