I have written many times requesting the termination of my contract and finally received a letter with an outright denial. Angle Fire’s only option was that we could rent or sell our week, knowing very well that this was not a feasible or valuable option. The sales presentation was quite overwhelming and full of high pressure to purchase. We were told many things during that presentation that turned out to be untrue. We were told that we were receiving the best deal and that we could exchange our timeshare week for any resort worldwide. We were led to believe that our week would give us equal access to every other resort in the exchange system. We discovered that to be untrue when trying to use our timeshare. We found that there were different levels of resorts that would require more weeks to exchange for. When we tried to exchange through RCI we discovered that Angel Fire is a Silver level resort and was not on par with Gold level resorts. There was never any mention of this during the sales presentation, which would have made a difference in our purchase decision. During the presentation, we were also told that the timeshare would be a real estate investment that would increase in value, and that we could rent or sell for a profit or would make a tremendous inheritance for our children.  When we told our salesperson that we were not interested, he brought over his supervisor to put more pressure on us to purchase. He reiterated the same benefits about the exchange ability and investment and offered us additional bonus weeks, and they continued to push us into purchase. When we had time to review what we had purchased, we realized the extra bonus weeks had extraordinarily little value and we could never use them. We went ahead and paid the timeshare loan in full and decided to try and get what we paid for. We are unable to find accommodations without compromise, and otherwise lose our points.  We also grow very tired of having to attend sales meetings, and if we don’t, we are harassed until we do. We are in our 80’s and have experienced many health-related problems that not only have prevented us from travelling but have also added unexpected hardships on our lives. I am a 40% disabled veteran due to combat related injuries and cancer I developed while serving abroad. I cannot drive for extended periods of time. My wife is being treated long term for breast cancer to reduce that possibility of recurrence. She is in no condition to travel and is a significant reason for this request for cancellation. We have paid our loan in full, but the annual maintenance fee is a very unreasonable amount that we just cannot afford. We are retired and on fixed incomes now in addition to our declining health. Our travelling days are over We also do not want to burden our children with the never-ending maintenance dues upon our passing. They had nothing to do with this purchase, and they should not be left responsible for it in any way.
