Checked in on 12/31/21. The first room on the 6th floor had a sour smell upon entering, like that of a sour dish rag. Immediately Went back downstairs. The second room on the The third floor also had the same unsanitary sour smell, the lampshade was filthy, as well as the carpet. This was ascertained after a quick perusal of the room and no further inspection was deemed necessary. Went back downstairs a second time and informed management of the condition of the room. Was assigned a third room on the fifth floor. Again, the same sour smell and the same dirty and stained carpets. By then it was also noticed that the elevator carpet and the carpet in the hallways was also grossly stained and dirty. The hotel had an overall ambience of uncleanliness. We were very disappointed. We had been looking forward to staying in what was we thought a first class hotel in downtown Albuquerque. We went back downstairs and told management that we would be unable to stay with them due to the cleanliness of the hotel. We were informed that we would be charged a one night cancellation fee. We tried to explain to them that it was not a cancellation but in fact was an inability to stay there due to their unsanitary conditions of the hotel and their gross negligence in the maintaining of the premises. They responded once again that we would be charged a one night cancellation fee. Management was rather rude and unconcerned with regards to their patrons. We realized at that point that further communication with them would be to no avail. They charged our account $301.77. We would like this amount credited to our card credit card account.
