On 7/27/23 I had thermal (Japanese) hair straightening done by ****** ******* at the Sanctuary Salon. I was extremely unhappy with the services and am equally unhappy with the results. In our phone conversation before our appointment, I explained to ****** that I had had the Japanese straightening done at least a dozen times, with only one bad result. That was from a woman who pulled my hair DOWN instead of UP while she worked it, resulting in a dullness and complete lack of swing. I was a little concerned during our phone consultation because ****** explained over and over that she was highly qualified. It made me wonder why she needed to repeat that so much. Later in your chair she began the straightening by pulling my hair DOWN with the flatiron. When I reminded her of our phone conversation she denied that I explained it to her. At that point she threatened to send me home with the initial relaxer on my hair, the chemical that breaks the hair bonds that are later restored with the second chemical. That was traumatizing to me, and I certainly was trapped into allowing her to do the process her way (vs. what I had explained on the phone was necessary for us to do business) or to completely lose all of my hair. I was also traumatized when she kept rubbing her breast against my face each time she washed my hair. At this point my ends are burnt and split and my hair is not straight. It is worse than my natural wave, which was not too bad in itself, but I was looking for that special look of Japanese straightening that I have had many times before. I am at a negative in that I now have to blow dry my hair every day, where before I did not. All in all, it was a frightening and disappointing experience. I contacted ****** by 'snail mail' because no such person exists online and I couldn't find an email address. She responded by text that she has no interest in refunding my money.
