On 10/14/22021 I wanted to have my check engine light checked and corrected along with an oil change. I was told at time of drop off the approx price would be $350 for oil change and O2 sensor replacement (based upon error code P1164 ) Upon picking up my car the next day the repair and svc cost $758.07. I WAS NEVER GIVEN OR RECEIVED a call that the price would be TWICE what I was originally told. I was charged $497.47 for the O2 sensor alone. The service rep told me they had to **** up parts to make a profit and for a delivery charge of the part. I had no option but to pay the full ****. THE NEXT DAY the check engine light came on again - i drove back to Piedra Automotive and they booked me an appointment 2 weeks out (as soon as they could get me in - they told me) I googled the O2 Air/Fuel Ratio sensor (Upstream) part # ***-9014 and saw the prices ranging from $135 to $275 range. A few days later the check engine light turned off. Approx 3 weeks after i picked up my car the check engine light came on AGAIN. I took the car to another service center and I was informed that the O2 sensor should cost me $150 ish (part only) NOT $497.07 My car is a **** ***** Accord. These business practices are unethical, unprofessional and a RIP off. At minimum they should have called to get authorization for the UPCHARGE for the O2 sensor. They take advantage of unsuspecting customers and I do not recommend taking your vehicle there for service - if you do INSIST on a written estimate !!! BEWARE !!!

I am perplexed by this review because after doing research I have found that the misunderstanding stems from the fact the owners vehicle has an air fuel ratio sensor and an o-2 sensor. He is correct that an o-2 sensor is the price he researched. The vehicle needed the air fuel ratio sensor which has a retail price from ***** of $600.42 and we were able to find one from Advance Auto Parts for cheaper. Our service advisor actually reduced the list price from $537.00 to $497.47 to help the customer because of the age and miles on the vehicle. As for not contacting the customer I as the owner have a conflict concerning that matter because our company policy is very firm about approval before the repairs are performed.

In response to the Owner of Piedra Automotives comments - per his comment that an "Air Fuel ratio sensor has a retail price from $600.42" I have looked and matched Advanced Auto Parts web site for this part Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor OE Exact Upstream Part # ***-9014 and their website shows a price of $256.99 (Please go and look this up online) I have no idea where the price of $600.42 comes from. The $600.42 amount is almost 3 times listed on Advanced Auto parts web site. This is Highway Robbery overcharging 3 times the amount. Perhaps Pierda auto used the improper amount charged from another part on my invoice - again I ask that they go back and look at Advanced Auto's web site and look up their part # ***-9041 (as recored on the invoice) Also by Googling part # ***-9014 3 other web sites Regarding owners comment that it is a "Very Firm" policy about contacting customers about approval before repairs - I am willing to provide cell phone (my only phone) records that I NEVER received a phone call or that I made a phone call on or about the days my car was in for repairs. Again the original estimate was approx $350 NOT $758.07 A final note: The owner did not address the fact that the VERY NEXT DAY after I picked up the car and the Check Engine light came on he could not get my car looked at again for 2 more weeks. He delivered a car to me that the job was not done correctly (problem resolved) (yes the Code was cleared P1164) but the issue still persisted and I was expected to wait 2 more weeks after I just paid $758 for the repairs. It is just bad business practice in my mind - combined with the Over charging of the Air/Fuel Ratio sensor - it is impossible for me to recommend Piedra Automotive for ANY type of service or repairs. If Piedra Automotive would like to refund me an amount of perhaps $200 for the OVER Priced Air/Fuel Ratio sensor - making it $297.47 a profit of $40.48 on that part alone I would be satisfied and we BOTH could put this matter behind us. A written estimate and my authorization of the work to be performed would have also resolved this issue.
