Encouraging and supporting ethical business practices are important to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving Nebraska, South Dakota, The Kansas Plains and Southwest Iowa. The BBB Integrity Award is the most prestigious award the BBB can present to a business or charity. Being a recipient indicates that the organization not only believes in the high standards promoted by BBB, but also consistently acts on them and continuously integrates them into daily practices. Businesses and charities in the Kansas Plains were invited to apply.

“BBB is pleased to conduct annual awards programs to gain public recognition for organizations committed to ethical business practices. Each year, applicants are selected to receive these awards through regional competitions,” said BBB President Jim Hegarty. “The Awards are also designed to promote the willingness and efforts made by outstanding organizations that demonstrate a solid commitment to marketplace trust.”

The 2017 Award Winners were honored at their companies for their unique contributions to business excellence in Wichita. The winning organizations received a crystal flame – a symbol that that they are lighting the way for an ethical marketplace in their community.

Three Winners were selected, from the applications submitted to BBB’s Wichita office, by an independent panel of judges representing both the business and academic communities. A BBB Integrity award was presented to ServiceMaster by Best. They have been in business for over 25 years and provide carpet, air duct, floor and tile cleaning, water damage mitigation and restoration, fire and smoke damage cleaning and mold remediation.  “The judges were impressed with the quality of training they provide for their employees, their community involvement and going “above and beyond” their customers’ expectations,” stated Denise Groene, BBB Kansas State Director.

Another Integrity Award Winner is Continental Siding Supply. It was founded in 1982 by Jerry O’Neal.  His greatest desire was to provide “the best siding products, best installation, and best customer service possible to homeowners across the great states of Missouri of Kansas,” Groene said. “Both the company’s excellent quality of customer service and their use of the Perma-Strate wall system that has revolutionized the siding industry were important factors in the judge’s selection!”

Envision, Inc., founded in 1933, is the charity that received an Integrity Award this year.  Envisions’ focus on ability over disability has made it a leader in providing employment, vision rehabilitation services and support groups to youth and adults who are blind or visually impaired in the Wichita area. “Envision also has a strong voice for inclusion and acceptance within our community,” explained Groene. “The judges were impressed by the organization’s treatment of opportunities for employees, return back to the community and excellent customer service solutions.

Hegarty stated, “BBB is pleased honor these organizations. In today’s challenging economic climate and complex world, honesty and integrity are more important than ever. Integrity Award Winners represent what is best about businesses in this area. These organizations have solid business practices, based on a commitment to serve their customers with the highest standard of ethics.  They have built successful companies because of the trust that has been established, and these Awards recognize their leadership in Wichita.”
