BACKGROUND AND ACTIVITIES: The Tabitha Foundation was
established and incorporated January, 1981 as a non-profit
organization. Tabitha Health Care Services, in existence since
1886, is the sole beneficiary of the Foundation's fund-raising
efforts. Tabitha Health Care Services provides substantial
charity care to the community through:

Case Management Rehabilitation services
Housing Home Health services
Hospice Nursing Home
Meals on Wheels Pastoral Care services

The Tabitha Foundation owns three for-profit corporations:
Broadview Corporation, Home Care Specialties of Tabitha and
Tabitha Housing Corporation. These corporations do not receive
donated funds.

GOVERNANCE AND STAFF: The Tabitha Foundation is governed by a 12
member Board of Directors which met quarterly last year with an
average attendance of 9. Officers include: A. W. Sward,
President; Jam Thayer, Chair; Roland Luedtke, Vice Chair; and
Dale Niebuhr, Secretary/Treasurer. There are 2.5 paid staff
employees and 6 Volunteers. The Board of Directors and Officers
have control over the organization's programs and budget.

FUND RAISING AND TAX STATUS: The Tabitha Foundation reports
that it uses mail and direct personal contact as its methods of
fund raising. The organization states that the purpose of its
current solicitation is to fund Tabitha Home Health Care
Services.

The Tabitha Foundation's sources of income for the year ended
December 31, 1998 were contributions, gifts and grants, 83%;
Investment income, 14%; other revenue, 3%.

The Tabitha Foundation is tax exempt under section 501 (c) (3)
if the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions may be deductible as
charitable donations for income tax purposes.
