“Will ‘Nashville Bike Week’ go on?”
That is the question consumers continue to ask after the arrest of Nashville Bike Week promoter, Michael Lewis Leffingwell, aka Mike Axle, June 5, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY. Mike Axle has been actively sought by several law enforcement agencies over the past few months on outstanding warrants in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and Georgia. Charges include probation violation, failure to appear and larceny. According to the Warren County, KY Sheriff’s Office other charges may be forthcoming.
For many months Nashville Bike Week has promoted and sold tickets for a 10-day music festival and motorcycle rally scheduled Sept 14 – Sept 24, 2017. The event venue has changed from Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, to a site in Humphrey’s County, despite NBW organizers failing to secure event permits and contracts. On or around May 25, 2017, Nashville Bike Week announced they had signed a contract to host the event at Gaylord Opryland Convention Center. However, on May 30, Gaylord Opryland issued a media release stating Nashville Bike Week would not be held there.
As of the date of this release, NBW organizers continue to state the event venue will be announced ‘soon’. BBB will continue to update the status of Nashville Bike Week as more information becomes available.
In an Unrelated Announcement: June 5, 2017, Hurricane Mills TN
