I accidentally broke a ceramic bedside lamp. I owned up to it and let the hotel know. I even picked up the bigger pieces of glass on the floor and table. I was then charged an additional $300 on op of the $200 charged at check in for incidentals. I called Monday the 26th about it and spoke to Diann in accounting. she assured me she would pass along to her supervisor. I then called back Tuesday the 27th, spoke with Diann again and she assured me they were working on it..... still received no phone calls. I called back today the 28th and asked to be transferred to her supervisor Maria who tried to explain the charges to me... Cost of lamp, labor, cleaning.... somehow adds up to $500? they told me they were unable to provide an itemized bill showing me what the charges were based off. I know for a fact those lamps can be bought online @$134.99 each (Tasia Ceramic Table Lamp - ***********), I also know that Omni hotel house keepers make a national average of $17.21/HR. (**************), so unless they were in there for a couple days cleaning up a broken lamp I just do not see how a $500 charge is justifiable. once again just another case of a big business using shady charges and covers in order to milk every last hard earned cent out of their customers. I personally will never stay in another Omni Hotel and will do my very best to ensure that no one else makes the same mistake as I did through ******, ****, BBB, and word of mouth. times are too tough to be taking advantage of customers in such a way... FOR A LAMP.
