My mother is a surviving veteran spouse, her husband served in WWII. I was contacted by A Place for Mom stating a spouse may be eligible to receive veterans benefits that provide financial assistance for nursing care. I was then referred to contact ***************************** claiming to be a VA representative at phone number ************. Information I received stated claimants applying for veterans benefits may file for an application free of charge. No person including Patriot Angels can charge a fee for this claim. I was told my mom could receive $1400 per month. ******** then told me I must first schedule a consultation with Attorney *************************** for a fee of $1295 which she had to pay immediately before proceeding this was on May 25. (I put this on my credit card mom doesn't have one) I told ***** she may have to also need to apply for ********* she abruptly told me well she may only get about $90 per month then.. At the time my mother was still in the hospital for 5 days (May 27 to May 31) prior to her transfer to ************ *************************** June 1, ***** ************. She was then moved to the long term care July 7 at *************************** Nothing transpired from this conversation. I feel my mother was scammed out of $1295. I tried to contact ********, he did not answer. I feel A Place for Mom and Patriot Angels are a fraud and a scam.
