Evergreen Contracts
Consumers should understand that some company contracts include an evergreen clause, which means the contract automatically renews itself for a period of 12 months at the end of the current contract term. Consumers who wish to cancel the contract must notify the company in writing (BBB suggests sending the request via certified return receipt mail), approximately 30 - 90 days (depending on the contract terms) prior to the contract expiration date. Failure to do so will result in the consumer's obligation to continue paying for the service for another 12 months.

BBB advises consumers to carefully read and understand the provisions of any contract before signing.
