The mission of Better Business Bureau is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. To fulfill this mission, BBB reaches out to elders to provide important information which will empower them to fight fraud.

BBB listens to seniors' concerns and provides education and information to elders across Minnesota and North Dakota. BBB offers practical resources to help people:

  • Increase financial literacy
  • Make wise purchasing decisions
  • Avoid scams

 

Free Video & Free Educational Pamphlets¹

Be Wise, Be Informed, Be Empowered

BBB produced a video and pamphlet in response to the growing problem of scams targeting seniors.  Learn about the Grandparent Scam, lottery and sweepstakes schemes, telemarketing scams, home repair fraud, and more. These resources will help seniors to:

  • Identify and avoid common scams
  • Make wise purchasing decisions
  • Maintain their financial independence and well-being
  • Keep money out of the hands of scammers

Multicultural Senior Initiative

Area agencies have partnered to produce a series of animated digital shorts aimed at combating fraud. The shorts, Be Wise About Senior Fraud, are available in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

The multicultural senior initiative was made possible through a grant provided by Greater Twin Cities United Way and its partners: ECHO Minnesota, AARP Minnesota, Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB), Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, Minnesota Board on Aging, Minnesota Department of Commerce, and tpt.
