Fake Emails Targeting Business Owners

September 11, 2017

Your Better Business Bureau is hearing that business owners – both BBB Accredited Businesses and non-Accredited Businesses are receiving emails purportedly from us, in regard to an alleged ‘abuse.’ These emails are not from us and they are not legitimate. Such emails should be promptly deleted or else forwarded to phishing@council.bbb.org and then deleted. For future reference, BBB does not have an ‘Abuse Department.’ And any emails from us will come from an email address ending in @thefirstbbb.org.

Anytime you have questions about a communication you receive, please feel free to contact us at ask@thefirstbbb.org or by calling our Accredited Business Service hotline: 651-699-0011.

For more information on these bogus emails, visit https://www.bbb.org/council/news-events/bbb-warnings/2017/09/phishing-scam-claims-to-be-from-bbb-cites-federal-violations/
