The owner cancelled on our event 90 minutes past their scheduled arrival time leaving ** with no tent, tables or chairs for a graduation party! They offered no alternative solutions or legitimate explanation! They stopped answering their phone when we tried to communicate with them!Review from G H

Sadly, MN Party and Tent Rental owner/ director Doug did not honor his word to me, and created a huge amount of stress just before our child’s wedding. We ended up having to set up the chairs and tables ourselves and having to pay two hundred extra dollars for others to take the chairs and tables down during the wedding reception. I wanted to book tents, chairs, and tables for a family wedding many months before the event, in order to make sure that: (a) we had the necessary items to hold a COVID safe outside wedding during the busy summer period; and (b) most importantly, to reduce stress before the wedding. I had not seen negative google reviews under the company name Minnesota Tents. I am only seeing a number of very negative reviews after I made the booking. In March, Doug said that if I paid up front, I would get a 10% discount and he promised to set up two tents, 80 chairs and tables according to the wishes of my in laws. I had all this in messages and emails. I wanted to reduce stress for my in laws and for us so that we could focus on helping the wedding to go well. Just before the wedding, Doug claimed that he never promised to set up everything (even though that was the main reason that I agreed to pay in full in advance). This understanding was stated in emails and messages. He wrote the contract in such a way that “We set up” was on a line with the tent only even though we had discussed at length that they would set up everything. He also claimed we only told him at the last minute that the county park had to have set up and take down done the same day when it was clearly written in an email to him March. Two weeks before the wedding, he claimed we would have to carry tables and chairs from the parking lot (over 500 feet) He refused to return money even though the original agreement had been for full set up. My in laws ended up finding another rental company that offered to provide everything that he was providing and full set up at a much lower price. The other company actually asked whether MN Tents was the company that we were having trouble with because they had been contacted by so many other former customers who also had had disturbing experiences with them. However, as Doug refused to honor his agreement or to return payment, our in laws were kind enough to not want us to pay double. So we had to pay some people to do take down of tables and chairs during the reception so that we could enjoy the wedding festivities. To be fair, they did arrive on time at noon, and they did set up the tents in the way my in laws wanted. The park venue allowed them to drive their van onto the field where the wedding took place, so we did not have to carry 80 chairs and six tables ourselves. That is why I gave them two stars rather than one star. However, we did have to arrange to set up of the chairs and tables and to take them down ourselves for an extra $200 even though I had paid in advance for full set up. It was incredibly stressful dealing with Doug as he did not honor his word, nor apparently, does he care whether this lack of honesty reflects badly on his professional reputation. I do not take any pleasure in writing negative reviews. However, in my opinion, anyone planning a wedding or special event should avoid doing business with MN Party and Tent Rental. Also it is alarming that they go by different names - Minnesota Party and Tent Rental, Omega, and Party and Tent Rental. Plus Doug does not disclose his last name in any communications. I missed negative reviews on Google that would have warned me to avoid them due to this use of different names.Review from AnuK

I agree with the previous review that this business should be shut down - I had the worst customer service experience that I have ever had in the past with a service provider. I hired two tent packages for my daughter's graduation party. I even paid a premium for the peak tents which Doug told me were better looking, less used and in better condition. I paid the advance deposit in March and they ran my credit card for the remaining balance 6 days in advance of my event. At the time of delivery, Doug came for a very brief period and left saying the two boys (high school students working for him part time during the summer) would put up the tents and he would be back with remaining chairs. Once the tents were set up, I inspected them from inside and found them to be EXTREMELY DIRTY & SHABBY looking - there were cobwebs and dirty black marks all over the tent. Moreover, one of the tents had a big hole right at the top near the center pole. There were several other smaller holes as well. When I pointed these out to the two boys who were setting up the tents they said they would let Doug know and they left. After that Doug never came back. I tried calling & texting him several times with the hope that he will stop by to take a look & offer some solutions (maybe the tents could have been washed or patched or fixed in some other way). After 4-5 hours, he finally responded by a text saying that there was nothing wrong with the tents other than normal wear & tear (without looking at the tents). I sent him a picture of the underside of the tent with the big hole & the dirty marks asking to confirm if he still thought it was normal wear & tear. He did not bother to respond. At this point, I asked him to remove the tents since we could not use them in their current condition. He promptly responded by saying he can remove them as long as I agree that he would not be refunding me any money or giving me any credit since he could have used those tents elsewhere had I not reserved them. The next morning the two boys arrived (minus Doug) to remove the tents. Doug NEVER bothered to come & look at the tents or try to solve the problem or even apologize that the customer was not satisfied. He just wanted the money and didn't seem to care about quality or customer service. At the end, I felt that I was robbed of my money and I was completely helpless to do anything about it. Our graduation event suffered since we did not have any tents to provide shade to our guests and neither did it have the look and feel that we desired. This was also the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced in all my interactions with the service industry in the past.
