Don't SIGN anything, they say the form "really means nothing" and "it's just a formality" but on the form is a sentence saying whatever your insurance settlement is, that will be the exact amount Oberg will charge. When Joe Odle of Oberg stopped at our home, I told him I would welcome a bid/estimate but I would not sign the form; he played dumb asking why I wouldn't sign, he took advantage of my politeness by not walking away until I told him to leave, using 20 more minutes of my time. He knew why a homeowner has reason not to sign the form, but downplayed it (e.g. If insurance issues you a $30,000 check but Oberg’s Bid is $27,000, homeowner gets to keep $3,000; however, by signing that form, Oberg is “entitled” to the full $30,000 thereby increasing their "sales" an additional $3,000). Definitely a SALESMAN who's only objective is to obtain signatures on forms ASAP, not an advocate for a homeowner (even though he described Oberg as advocates). I'm writing this after receiving a follow-up call from Joe asking where I was at with the project. I said I was waiting for my settlement from Insurance, letting me get back to work, Joe starts-off saying I'm being the Contractor and tat communicating with insurance is Oberg would handle. I told him I didn't ask for his opinion/input, I said "you asked a question, I answered it" and I said I would still not be signing the form and I I ended the call to return to work. He called me back, I said I needed to get back to work, I answered his question but I will not stay on the call just so he can continue talking. I ended the call again. He sends me a text: "Thanks for the opportunity to help you but I am not interested." I was told by a neighbor recently, that if you sign the form then try to back out of it, Oberg has a history of take people to court. It's too bad I can't give a zero-star. Earn business, don't force people to have to use you.
