I have lived here for 11 months. This company took over when my landlord bought it from my previous landlord. They threw another $1200 security deposit at me, have not paid, & harassed me at work. The owner of my rental place, Mariah *****, did an application for me through The Zero Balance Project for my rent when I was placed on a medical LOA due to a knee injury in Oct. I was approved & they sent her the check in Nov 22nd 2021. She, nor Renters Outlet, have applied ANY of it to my rent. They are now illegally evicting me by Jan 31st when I’ve had no income enough to put money down on a new place. I have talked to a lawyer for tenants & I do not have to move till Feb 28th because of my assistance approved through that date. I am now back to work on Jan 17th. I have also asked that issues be fixed. Example, leaky kitchen sink, mold in my bathtub caulking, smoke detectors not working, side garage door broken & no door knob. I should not be forced out of my home because she used my money for other things & putting my unit up for rent & setting showings up without my consent. I need help here. This business is not a reputable one. They do things illegally I can provide copies of my medical records while I’ve been on a leave & my STD paystubs if needed. Also can provide emails on all of said above in complaint

We have been tenants with Renters Outlet for 18 months. Prior to our lease signing and move in I conducted a walkthrough of my potential new home with the co-owner of Renters Outlet We identified the following items that needed repair. There were quite a few mostly minor things that needed to be taken care of. One was a more a little more major. The Ice and Water on the fridge was not working. The reason the ice and water were not working is because water has been leaking into our house the entire time. Now we are living in a mildew , moldy house. They have made virtually no mitigation steps. When we ask what the next steps are we get no response. They do not use a licensed plumber for their plumbing work This handyman they employ has been working on this plumbing issue for months. At the time of this review it appears all they are going to do is dry the carpet. The owner brought his son who was attempting to start a fight with me. I think a physical fight, but perhaps just trying to bait me. I called the Police and they took care of that issue. (what the bully did not know is we would let he Police handle it. In this area they have experience I was informed this was not the first altercation with this individual. I am 60 years old. I can not think of a worse customer experience . This will likely end in litigation. They say there is nothing anyone can do. They seemed confident in that so.... maybe they are right. DO NOT RENT FROM RENTERS OUTLET IS MY ADVICE. A home is to be where we find peace. I felt bullied by these people. I have video evidence of this behavior if anyone would like to see it. Am I angry. Absolutely I am. However, I am going find out if the social media, government and legal systems can help deal with this company. Last point. I have maybe written 1 or 2 negative reviews in my life. We have been trying to work with the owners and handyman for *********************************** here Stay away

    Renters Outlet Response

I'm very sorry that this tenant feels we have done less than a good job, and would appreciate the opportunity to respond to his review. These tenants moved into the home on August 1, 2021, and renewed their lease for another year with us when it expired on August 1, 2022. Would a tenant who feels this way, sign a lease renewal after a full year with the rental management company, if they had the level of problems they are outlining? My guess is that they decided that they wanted to end their lease early, and thought giving us negative reviews online would help them get their way. I must have a crystal ***** because yesterday they requested to end their lease early! As a property management company, we are obviously concerned when a tenant tells us they believe there are mold issues in the home. When our tenant voiced his concerns, we immediately hired an independent mold inspector to check for possible mold issues. We had the mold inspection last Friday, and the police were called to the house shortly after the mold inspection began. The tenant became violent and aggressive with my son and I while we were trying to work with the mold inspector, and the inspector included this in her report: "The renter got very agitated within a minute or two of our arrival and made it hard to do the inspection. He was making it a very hostile environment. He actually went so far as calling the police on the property managers". Social media has become an easy way for angry people to attempt to damage a company's reputation, but in this case I will take legal action if these lies damage my company's reputation. Please check my company out with ****** Review, and compare my raking to my competitors, and you will see that we are one of the top 2 or 3 property management companies in the ***********. We received a copy of the mold report yesterday (wish we could add attachments, but let me know if you would like me to email it to you), and it shows no sign of mold, with normal moisture levels throughout the home. The inspector found the floor by the living room and kitchen wet and stained, which is clearly indicating that something major had been spilled (photo attached). I pulled up the carpet and padding, and it's clear that whatever caused the stain did not travel from the bathroom or the refrigerator, but rather was a major spill by the tenants. I placed a dehumidifier and fan in the room on Saturday, and stopped back yesterday to check things out. The moisture meter showed a normal moisture level in the floor, and at that point I moved the dehumidifier and fan to the basement where the inspector had found a wet area of the wall under the refrigerator. I will stop back tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2 pm to check the moisture level of the wall, and assuming we have normal moisture will remove the dehumidifier and fan. The inspector also told us that the house was extremely dirty and dusty, and that this is where mold will start to grow if it becomes wet. The furnace filter was filthy, and has possibly never been changed since the tenants had moved in, and anyone with respiratory issues should know that changing the furnace filter is critical to having clean air. This more than anything causes health issues in the home, and is also a likely cause that the air ducts in the home are dirty. The water softener had no salt in it, and was the reason the home lost all water pressure. I shut it off by bypassing the softener, in order to restore water service, and it will need to be repaired or replaced due to running it so long without salt in the unit. I would be happy to share our maintenance request log, showing that we responded to each of the tenant requests in a timely manner.Thank you, and please let me know if you need anything further.******************************* Renters Outlet, LLC Owner/Broker
