    On 12/5/23, my daughter had her *** X4 towed to Motorwerks BMW in ***********, ** as her car died while driving and a Battery Malfunction light showed on her dashboard. Before this onetime event, the vehicle presented zero battery/charging issues. Upon inspection, I received a phone call from the Motorwerks service advisor stating the vehicle needed a new battery. I gave him the okay to proceed with changing the battery, and to also change the oil and perform the recommended brake fluid flush. Later the same day, I received a text from Motorwerks BMW stating the vehicle was ready for pick-up. I paid for the service, and my daughter went to the dealer to pick up her car. She got less than a block away and the same dashboard Battery malfunction light came on so she went back to the service ***** They told her that it MUST be the alternator with and estimated cost of repair of $1,723.06. If it truly is the alternator than they shouldn't have replaced the battery first. Either the battery accepts/hold a charge or it doesn't, and either the alternator charges or it doesn't. Both are ******************. I'll pay for the alternator repair but I am requesting a full credit for the battery replacement.

    Beware buying a newer BMW vehicle-if you have an accident and need repair -you may be caught between your insurance company’s out dated 30 day limit on a loaner and BMW-saying no replacement parts are available on new vehicles for up to a year. As a single woman, who recently lost her job, this leaves me with $900 per month for the lowest cost car rental, plus payment of my BMW car payment =$1350/ month with no end in sight. It’s a BMW issue and they won’t provide a loaner, nor have they offered to pay my rental costs while awaiting the part and repair. I wish I’d purchased a Suburu Outback or an American made product instead of spending so much on a luxury car, I can’t get repaired. I was promised action and called them back. No status update in several days. I’ve been without my car for about 5 weeks now. I’d rather return the car and get my money back. It’s not an isolated incident. Master Collision Repair told me someone with an X5 just had to buy another car because BMW said his part’s earliest availability isn’t until September!!! BMW won’t even take a part off a new vehicle to support their current customers. Not a fan of BMW Sakes and Service nor Safeco/Liberty Insurance’s loaner policy anymore!
