FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Vancouver, BC – Despite the rain on Thursday, June 16th, it was all bright smiles and accolades as BBB serving Mainland BC handed out eleven well-deserved Torch Awards to local businesses. BBB’s Torch Awards began in 1997 as a way to recognize those companies that make big strides in advancing ethics and trust in the marketplace. BBB serving Mainland BC has been taking part in the awards for the past nine years.
This year’s festivities was a gala luncheon at Vancouver’s Diamond Ballroom and was attended by 130 representatives from local businesses. The event was emceed by CBC Vancouver host, Dan Burritt, who handled the crowd with ease and wit. Our title sponsor this year was IT Business Group Network, ITBGN.
“Every year I get involved with this, I just feel so much pride for the businesses involved,” says Danielle Primrose, President and CEO of BBB serving Mainland BC. “We have so many great businesses in BC who operate with integrity that it’s difficult to pick just one winner for these awards. We had a small army of judges pouring over dozens of applications. I am also proud of those who get involved on their own time to make this event a reality.”
This year BBB serving Mainland BC added another award category; Employer of the Year.
"We felt it was important to include this award," adds Primrose. "It was a way to recognize businesses that put employee well-being at the same level as productivity and service."
In 2015 we introduced a People’s Pick Award as a way to engage businesses and consumers. This was done again for 2016 and over 17 thousand consumer votes were cast!
BBB serving Mainland BC would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists at this year’s Torch Awards.
