Vancouver, BC – Better Business Bureau serving Mainland BC is officially accepting nominations for this year’s coveted International Torch Awards for Ethics. 2016 is the ninth year BBB in BC has handed out the awards to businesses in BC that show excellence in the marketplace, the community, business innovation and the environment.
BBB Torch Award categories are as follows:
Innovative Business Practices
Last year BBB introduced a People’s Pick Award and the response was amazing. Over 3000 votes from consumers were received for those businesses who were nominated for the award. The People’s Pick will be part of this year’s program again which will be held at a gala luncheon on June 16th at the Diamond Ballroom in Vancouver.
BBB is introducing a new Torch Award for 2016; Employer of the Year. This award recognizes that business that goes above and beyond for their employees. This company stands out from the competition by demonstrating outstanding leadership in the workplace. It values employee health and wellbeing on the same level that it values productivity and customer service.
“BBB loves this time of year,” says Danielle Primrose, President and CEO of BBB serving Mainland BC. “I am so proud of the quality of businesses in BC, accredited with us or otherwise. Not every award demands BBB Accreditation so it’s great to see deserving businesses get nominated for a Torch Award. It’s a great achievement for any business.”
The process is simple. Applicants need to go to bbb.org/mbc/programs-services/torch-awards, find the award they wish to nominate or apply for and follow the directions. The submissions are then given to our panel of judges who then make the final decision on who the award goes to. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 31st, 2016.
BBB has been giving out Torch Awards since 1997 in order to gain public recognition for North American Businesses who maintain a solid commitment to creating an ethical marketplace. The mission of BBB is to promote and foster the highest ethical relationships between businesses and the public. This is achieved through voluntary self-regulation, consumer business education and service excellence.
