I hired Stattonrock to build my custom home in 2018 and took possession that November. The building process itself had both positives and negatives. On the positive side, the staff were always very friendly and helpful, and the project was done quickly. The negatives were all financial: poor bookkeeping practices, inappropriate expenses, and huge budget overruns especially their in-house labour costs. Eventually we came to an agreement about cost that was acceptable to both parties. I was satisfied and felt confident that at least I had a quality, well-built home. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Problems began to appear almost immediately. At first the issues were relatively minor and handled quite quickly, but before very long the delays and excuses began. For several items I had to ask 4 or even 5 times before a repair was undertaken. Many repairs had to be done more than once; for example the in-house plumbers made 5 separate trips over 14 months before they managed to actually fix my soaker tub faucet, and I've lost track of how many times I contacted them about that issue. Several times when the workers arrived to complete repairs they were unprepared, borrowing tools, equipment, and supplies from me, and/or leaving with the job only partially done. Our relationship became strained as I grew weary of asking repeatedly to get something simple handled. When my home was less than two years old I discovered two major issues: my damp-proofing membrane was being pulled down and torn, exposing my foundation; and my front porch was sinking and visibly leaning to one side. These two issues are directly related to the quantity and quality of the backfill used on the exterior of my house. Although an incomplete 'repair' was completed quite promptly on my damp-proofing, it took six long months before my porch was fixed. During this time I was ignored; spoken to in a dismissive and condescending fashion; ******** ******* ********* ** *********** *** ****** *** ********* ** *** *****; *** **** **** *** ******* ************ *** **** *** * ****** **** ******** **** *** ******** *******. *** ******** ******* **** *********** ** ********** **** **** ***** *** ****** * *** ** ****** ** *** ******* ** *********** ******* ***** ******* ** *** **** ******** *********** *******. My initial claims were dismissed without investigation or clear explanation. * ***** * **** ********* *** ***** * **** ** ******* **** ******* ** *** **** ********* *** **** ***. ***** *** ****** * *** **** ** **** * ******** ***** **** *** **** ********* ********* **** ******* ** **** * ************** ** **** ** *** ******** **** ** ***** ***** **** **** ****** ** *** ******** ******* **** *** **** ** *** ******* **** ***** **** ** *** **** ** ********** ****** * *** ***** ****** ************* ** **** ** *** **** ********** ******* Nevertheless, and for reasons known only to them, Stattonrock did eventually decide to fix my sagging porch, despite the defect not being officially covered by warranty. It took a few hours and only a few materials, and was finally repaired six months less a day after I informed them of the issue. I am giving this company two stars only because they did eventually complete a reasonable repair. But, I could never in good conscience recommend this builder to anyone.
