Eight years ago, Dr. Roof replaced the shingled roof on my home in Winnipeg. This past fall, a neighbour notice I had a shingle that had come off and slid down one row. There were no weather events that should have caused this and no other homes in the neighbourhood had issues. Thinking this odd, I called Dr. Roof and they were able to come by that day. The shingle was reattached, I thanked him very much and he was on his way. It needs to be said that during my initial call, I was not told there would be a fee just for him showing up. When he checked the roof, I was not given an assessment as to any cost. I concluded this was great customer service. When he left, I was not told that an invoice would be sent to me which he claims. Over 2 months later, I get a call from their office asking when I was going to pay the $*** I owed them. No invoice was ever sent here before that call, and I was shocked. I was told that I had been informed on my call to them initially that there would be a fee for showing up, which never happened. He also told me when he left the house that I would be getting an invoice from their office, I was absolutely never told that. Since I was never told about a fee, or that I would be paying, I find billing me after the fact for an amount I had obviously never heard of or had the chance to agree to, is a very bad business practice. They could have called like they did 2 months later and said I owed $***** or whatever amount they wanted to make up. I have since paid the bill, having been told by Dr. Roof that they wouldn’t honour the warranty on the shingles if I didn’t pay. *** **** *** * ***** **** ****** ***** **** **** ** * **** ** ********** ******* * ***** ********* *** anyone deciding to employ this company ** get absolutely everything in writing up front, no matter how small the job.
