When purchasing used cars, here are some general tips to follow:
1. Know the value of the car before purchasing it. Many public resources are available to know the value of an automobile prior to committing to purchasing it.
2. When purchasing a used automobile have a reputable mechanic thoroughly inspect the car before you complete the purchase and prior to signing any paperwork (or if you do sign paperwork, write into the agreement that it can be cancelled if an independent mechanic's inspection report is not acceptable to you).
3. Know that when purchasing a car as-is with no warranty, any repair issues that should arise following your purchase are likely to your responsibility (a manufacturer's warranty may provide continued coverage in some cases, but don't count on this unless you can verify the coverage).
