It has been 9 years since we first contacted US Tax Shield. 9 years. We have paid them about $10k. Our taxes were tied to a family business. That business closed in 2015. There is still no resolution. 9 years later. The most recent advice from them was to "wait it out". The debt will eventually fall off. I could have done that on my own. This company is awful. Do not waste your money.Review from Nancy D

I HAVE GONE ON THE INTERNET AND I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IS PROTECTING THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY PAY INTO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I BELIEVE IT IS CALLED POLITICAL REASONS. WHEN SEEING ON THE INTERNET ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS, IT IS HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE NOT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, WHICH WILL DO EVENTUALLY AFTER THEY ARE AUDITED AND INVESTIGATED BY THE *** AND CONSUMER AFFA***US Tax Shield Response

We are sorry to hear of Mrs. Duquette opinion about our business practices and we respectfully disagree. US Tax Shield is proud to be in compliance with necessary and required business guidelines for over 20 years. US Tax Shield is hired by Mrs. Duquette husband to represent him only for his tax matters. Due to confidentiality of our client's cases, we are unable to disclose any additional details in response. Since we do care for our clients, we have contacted him to discuss Mrs. Duquette's concerns.Customer Response

No I have not received any documents that you said you sent, plus, my I never received a message from your office, other than a telephone call from the sales person that sold Jimmie your services by the name of Kevin Fox and what a talker. This is my third attempt for you to forward to either Jimmie Andrew Armstrong or myself copies of all documents in your file relating to Jimmie Andrew Armstrong, along with the refund all monies you received from Jimmie, which I believe is around $8,100.00. As I told you previously, because of the incompetence of your IRS filings, we have had to have 2 years amended because of your failure to attach Schedule "C"'s. Your response will also be forwarded the San Jose office of the Better Business Bureau, also social media is also available.
BBB office, I cannot believe that you do not go on social medial and see all of the complaints about this company, US Tax Shield, even from ex employees, who have no reason to "LIE"!Review from Tattiana F

We hired them to help with my husbands back taxes and they took our money and did next to nothing. My husband left a review and they called to ask to what they could have done better. Come to find out after the conversation they completely screwed us. They told us our best option was to submit an offer and compromise (which we filled out and submitted ourselves) and then we had to just wait to hear back. They told us while we waited there was nothing that we could do or they could do. After this call with them come to find out we were suppose to be submitting updated financial and any life changes constantly so when the IRS finally contacted them everything that changed over the year the offer and compromise took to process they could update. We were never told about this and due to that our offer was rejected because I got a new job nothing and insurance nothing to do with my husband. The case manager said and I quote "I just assumed you would know that you need to tell us anytime anything changes". Not it's your job to explain the process and not assume I know how the offer and compromise process works and what needs to be done after we submitted it. Then we were waiting to hear back about what to do now that the offer was rejected and they never got back to us and now we have liens on everything. I finally got so fed up I called and asked to speak to management and by some miracle we got monthly payment information the next day after 5 months of nothing. We are now stuck we a crazy high month payment we can't afford and they wont do anything else to help. They said we got your payment information so we are done. I asked since they messed up our offer and compromise if they would help us to submit another one and they sent me the paperwork and said no but you can do it yourself. The amount of money we payed them vs the time they spent helping us equals us paying them thousands an hour. Don't trust them! Don't give them your money! They will string you along and do nothing. Find another company please.US Tax Shield Response

We are sorry to hear of Mrs. Flinders concerns surrounding her husband's tax issue and communications with us. Our representatives have previously spoken to Mrs. Flinders about her concerns, clarifying that US Tax Shield is still working to finalize a resolution for services rendered by her husband. Mrs. Flinders is correct that there was some time lapse between IRS notices received and our ability to connect with the IRS. It is a public knowledge that the IRS staffing levels has been extremely low after their 2020 shutdown during the height of COVID. We have attempted to contact the IRS on numerous occasions and during these times we were updating Mr. Flinders periodically both via phone and email of the delays affecting their normal progress of their case.
In regards to the resolution services, US Tax Shield prepared and filed seven years of tax returns for Mr. Flinders as well as an Offer in Compromise package. Due to the limitation of COVID safety protocols applied to our office location in the state of California, we suggested to the Flinders to directly mail the package to the IRS to the address provided instead of mailing to the US Tax Shield office location. The Flinders did not submit an Offer in Compromise themselves and we respectfully disagree.
Unfortunately, the Offer was not accepted due to assets sold for which the IRS determined that Mr. Flinders had an ownership interest in and in addition, IRS elimination of employer covered expenses that Mrs. Flinders was not paying out of pocket personally. The IRS began filing liens in 2010 prior to Mr. Flinders working with US Tax Shield and we have been working on providing options to prevent additional liens being filed. Due to the confidentiality of the matters, we are unable to disclose any additional details of the case. The IRS determined they could reasonably collect the remaining balance via a payment plan. US Tax Shield secured several installment agreement options that were forwarded to the Flinders for review. However, Mrs. Flinders asked us to submit another Offer with further financial changes that would not affect the analysis substantially. We explained that an Offer in Compromise can be submitted again however we do not provide false promises on acceptance of resolution plans for our clients. We help our clients to resolve their tax liability based on the best resolution options available that the taxpayers are qualified for. However, if they are not willing to move forward with the installment agreement option discussed and willing to submit an offer again themselves, we offered our help to send them the proper forms to aid in the process. To date, we are still waiting for confirmation from Mr. Flinders to be able to finalize a resolution arrangement that they choose.
At US Tax Shield we care for our client's concerns and appreciate their feedback. Again, we want nothing more than to resolve this matter and are happy to work with the Flinders to finalize a resolution upon receiving the signed form from them.Review from Edwin H

We are confused to read Mr. Haynes's opinion about our fees and services, and we respectfully disagree, since the case had been successfully resolved back in March 2021. Mr. Haynes contracted US Tax Shield to represent him before the State Department regarding his tax matter. His final payment for US Tax Shield services was on February 11, 2021 and since then no payments have been processed or deducted by US Tax Shield. Our Accounting representatives tried to reach out to him to clarify any confusion after receiving this review through BBB, however our attempts to reach him have been unsuccessful and we have yet to receive a call back.
In regards to the resolution services, we had finalized, back in March 2021, a successful resolution plan with the State for Mr. Haynes's based on services we were rendered. Due to confidentiality matters, we are unable to disclose any details of the resolution. The last communication between US Tax Shield and Mr. Haynes was back in March 2021 confirming resolution of his case. Since then, we have never received any form of concerns or contacts from Mr. Haynes. Since we do care about our clients even after a resolution is reached, we are always available for any additional help. Upon receiving this review through BBB, our Customer Care representatives tried to reach out to him, however our attempts to reach him have been unsuccessful and as previously mentioned, we never heard back from him to address his concerns.
