  • According to BBB files, records show that the company has a pattern of complaints concerning consumers having charges automatically withdrawn from their bank accounts (without notice) on a monthly basis after making a one-time purchase or no purchases at all. Consumers also allege having difficulty cancelling their accounts online or by phone. On April 2, 2015 the BBB contacted the company in regards to our concerns about the amount and the pattern of complaints we have received. On April 29, 2015 the BBB received a response from the business stating their company monitors the number of complaints received by the BBB to later discuss areas of concerns and identify improvements. Addressing the charges made to consumer accounts, the company stated the monthly billing fee is disclosed throughout the company's website, both before and after customers register for purchases. The 'Membership' page & 'Web Registration Learn More' page informs consumers they will be charged $15.99 per month if they do not cancel within the "NO-Risk 4-week trial period," and again once purchase is complete. Consumers also receive a welcome e-mail that repeats the service fee information. For cancellations, Stamps.com stated they can only be done by phone. Every cancellation call is recorded and representatives are randomly audited on a weekly basis to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; once the cancellation process is complete, consumers receive a cancellation confirmation email. To help minimize confusion among customers and reduce number of complaints, Stamps.com has recently made some modifications to their website in an attempt to be more transparent.
