Job Title: Business Services Specialist

Reports To:

 Director of Business Services
Classification: Non-Exempt
Purpose: Promote accredited business services  by demonstrating programs and activities to accredited businesses  Provide effective public relations services to accredited businesses and consumers.
Environment:

  Better Business Bureau is a non-profit accredited business organization (501C6) and manages a Foundation (501c3) that provides mediation services.  The headquarters are located in Fresno with a branch office in Bakersfield, which services customers in 11 counties of the San Joaquin Valley by providing reliability reports on companies and charities, advertising review and dispute resolution through conciliation, mediation and arbitration.

 

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties.  It is not all-inclusive.  Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management, as appropriate, may modify this job description.

 

Key Responsibilities

   

Respond to inquiries via telephone, e mail, mail and walk in with professionalism and efficiency, using procedures as outlined by BBB and meeting targets for quality and productivity. 

Provide accurate, timely updates to accredited business records through use of prescribed tools and media.

Contribute to achievement of accredited business retention targets by demonstrating to accredited businesses the benefits of the BBB through phone calls, emails, etc..

Participate in all accredited business programs

Develop internal and external marketing campaigns.

Write, edit and produce engaging content for print, digital media and video.

Issue press releases to media outlets in our service area and pitch stories to the media for coverage.

Write exclusive content to print media outlets in our service area.

Assist in the development and creation of BBB branded videos.

Plan and attend all BBB outreach events including trade shows, shred events, presentations, etc.

Drive one-self to events as may be needed. 

Assist in developing content for public service outreach programs and power points for current and topical presentations.

Help in creating a social media plan for our six platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube) outlining strategies for usage, goals and key metrics to evaluate our success.

Tailor suggestions for style, tone and types of content to best showcase our work and mission of the organization.

Build awareness among engaged and supportive audiences critical to our organization’s financial and     programmatic success.

Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of sponsorships, programs for sponsorships, and assisting with messages and resources to achieve productive results.

Support other staff as needed

 

Education / Qualifications

B.A. degree in public relations or equivalent in education and experience

Minimum 2 years experience in public relations/marketing or other direct contact in a sales-related organization

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut

Proficient in AP style writing

Experience with managing social media platforms

CA driver’s license

Customer service focused

Pass background check

Bi-lingual (requested, but not required)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to observe people and processes and provide feedback and training; read and understand written material on the internet, computer, hard copy; able to develop and compare statistical reports from a number of sources; able to read and see ad copy, and to design and recommend advertisements; able to speak to large groups to present information regarding the Bureau; research, design, recommend member and advertising material; able to read, listen to “scams” and write clear messages of alert for consumers;  communicate by phone and in person; listen and understand issues and people. Must be able to enter data, write reports.  Some lifting, bending, stooping, stretching and reaching as needed to move supplies, files and materials. 

 

This role does require work at multiple locations on occasion, and will require some driving as business needs demand.
