The 2019 Torch Awards introduced the BBB Spark Award, a Torch Award recognizing business owners 35 and under and young businesses in operation for 3 years or less.
The Spark Awards,a Torch Award for Entrepreneurship, recognizes young business owners that are no older then 35 years of age and/or young businesses that have not been in operation for more then 3 years. Their leaders demonstrate a higher level of character, generating a culture that is authentic about its mission, and connect with community. Social entrepreneurs, startup founders and new business owners demonstrating the foundation for trust are the future of a trusted marketplace.

BBB Southeast Texas incorporated the Spark Award in to their Torch Awards in 2019. In 2022, the criteria was expanded to include entrepreneurs of any age that have operated in business for less than 3 years.
