The BBB of Amarillo is a non-profit organization serving the twenty-six counties of the Texas panhandle. Our mission is to promote trust in the marketplace. With the new BBB Video Challenge, we want to raise awareness of ethical businesses, help consumers avoid bad business and drive consumers to trustworthy businesses.

What is the BBB Video Challenge?

The BBB Video Challenge is a new interactive competition for new businesses, 6 months – 3 years old. Owners of the business may be of any age. Businesses must be headquartered in the twenty-six counties of the Texas panhandle.

Why you should participate:

The BBB Video Challenge is a great opportunity to gain exposure for new businesses, to make the community aware of their commitment to company beliefs and promote their mission to the community. It is also a rewarding and thought provoking activity that can help your company in the areas of customer service, ethical business practices and integrity and trust in the marketplace. And it’s entirely turnkey within just a few weeks.

The winning company receive recognition at BBB’s Torch Awards for Ethics Celebration, recognition on BBB’s website and social media channels and the opportunity to advertising their win.

Qualifying businesses create, post and market their video based on the video topic provided by BBB. By participating you will meet other business owners, get feedback from seasoned professionals and get your message out to the community. We hope you enjoy the competition!

This tells us more consumers are looking for a positive business experience. By driving consumers to trustworthy businesses, BBB helps consumers and businesses avoid bad business and fraud.

Registration is Open / Contest begins

1.    Let us know that your business will be participating by registering for the contest. Link to register: HERE

2.    Register your company AND make sure your BBB profile is up to date.

Submissions of videos due.

Send videos to ethics@txpanhandle.bbb.org using WeTransfer.com. Submissions must be received by 11:59 P.M. on January 15, 2025 in order to be considered for the contest.

 

Friday, January 17, 2025

Videos go live at 8:00 A.M. on BBB’s YouTube channel for public promotion, voting, & judging

Voting is activated for all videos. Businesses will market their videos through promotion on their social media platforms, to get maximum likes on their videos on the BBB’s YouTube channel. During this time, judges will be conducting their analysis of each video.

At 11:59 p.m. all voting ends and judges will submit their analysis for a final tally.
 

Wenesday, February 5, 2025

Top Videos announced

Top videos who will move to the next level will be announced. Companies will be notified and a media release will be sent to local media. BBB will announce the top videos on our social channels.

 

Monday, February 10, 2025

3:00 P.M. – Pitch Meeting - Presentations to Judges.

Pitch Meeting – Top companies will present their video in person to the judging panel. Judges will rank the top videos on the following criteria:

Videos must meet the Rules.

Scoring:

●      Production Quality: 30%

●      Message: 30%

●      Representation of Topic: 30%

●      Marketing / Social Media Votes: 10%

 

The top three winning companies will be announced at the BBB Torch Awards Celebration on February 28th. All companies who make it to the Pitch Meeting will receive four complimentary tickets to the Torch Awards Celebration.

 

At the pitch meeting finalists will present their videos to the Judging Panel and have an opportunity to make their case as to why their company should win by presenting the following:

  1. Practices that make your business practices stand out.
  2. What you did to self-promote and market your video online.
  3. How this contest benefited your business.  

BBB Video Challenge

Rules

All videos become the property of BBB and cannot be used in your marketing or promotional materials without prior express written permission.

 

Qualifications

▪          The BBB Video Challenge is open to for profit businesses 6 months – 3 years old, actively selling products or services. Owners of the business may be of any age.

▪          Businesses must be headquartered in the twenty-six counties of the Texas panhandle.

▪          Companies do not need to be BBB Accredited in order to participate.

▪          Companies should have a B or better rating at BBB.

 

Company Entry

▪          Entry must be approved by the business owner.

▪          Anyone featured in the video (on camera) must be an employee of your business. Producers, editors, etc. need not be employees of your business.

 

The Video

▪          Video submissions are limited to one video from a business.

▪          The video must be submitted by 1/15/2025 at 11:59 p.m. to qualify.

▪          The video must be 60 - 90 seconds in length. Points will be deducted for videos shorter than 60 seconds or longer than 90 seconds.

▪          The minimum format resolution is 1280x720 or higher (recommended 1920 x 1080)

▪          The file format must be .mp4.

▪          The video must be based on the Video Topic.

▪          Videos must be marketed on social media with a link to your video on BBB’s YouTube channel.

2025 Video Topic

Create a video telling us about your business and how ethics and integrity are fundamental to your business. Tell us how employee culture is a result of leadership character and how you serve customers and manage difficult customer issues.

Create your video in a way that incorporates BBB’s principles of advancing marketplace trust; an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other and honest, fair business practices.

Video topic should be based on the idea of accountability and will center on your everyday lives and how trust, integrity and honesty shape your business.

Suggested questions to get started:

  • How and why did you start your business?
  • Why is doing the right thing in business important?
  • What is your leadership and employee dynamic and culture?
  • How do you serve customers’ needs?
  • How have you overcome difficult situation with a customer; with an employee?
  • How you grew from those experiences.
