DaVinci Sign Systems

2025 BBB Torch Award for Ethics Business Winner

BBB Serving Northern Colorado & Wyoming

DaVinci Sign Systems is a 100% employee-owned custom sign design, manufacturing, and installation company located in Windsor, Colorado. DaVinci Sign Systems is responsible for many of the beautiful custom signs for businesses, neighborhoods, and attractions throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska. As part of their mission statement, DaVinci sees themselves as "dream makers, the true visionaries of the sign realm, and the gatekeepers of both fantasy and reality."

Character

One of DaVinci's core values is Tribal Pride, defined as "compassion, community, collaboration, cross-training, the DaVinci family supports working toward a common mission." This tribal mentality is reflected in DaVinci's 100% employee ownership, making employees co-owners, not just co-workers. That means decisions are made collaboratively, and getting buy-in from everyone involved is paramount. The management team also adopts a strong ethic of servant leadership, as the employees are not just working for the managers, the managers are working for the employees (who are the owners).

Culture

In 2022, DaVinci Sign Systems launched DaVinci Cares, an employee assistance program intended to be a supplement to traditional benefits to address unanticipated life events like medical issues, financial issues, car trouble, natural or man-made disasters, etc. experienced by employees. The program is funded with an initial $5,000 from DaVinci and voluntary payroll contributions from employees (almost all participate but contribution is not necessary to receive a grant). A three-person committee reviews each request, which can be done anonymously (at least outside of the committee).

Customers

DaVinci Sign Systems takes seriously its role in helping small businesses and brands around the region make themselves known to the public. In one recent case, a subcontractor installed a sign that was not up to DaVinci's standards. DaVinci rebuilt and reinstalled the sign at their own expense (approximately $20,000), earning lasting loyalty from the customer. DaVinci seeks to be proactive in working with customers, aiming to underpromise and overdeliver and anticipate possible issues to avoid similar situations. Recently DaVinci hired a project manager whose job is to extend the idea of "DaVinci Cares" from employees to customers by providing more transparent communication and higher-touch customer service.

Community

In addition to monetary donations to many local causes including Realities for Children, United Way, and the Larimer Food Bank, DaVinci Sign Systems has a strong tradition of volunteerism, especially using their unique skills and equipment. Every year the company participates in Colorado Spruce Up Day to clean up an area of trash and litter. The company also provides its boom trucks for the start of the Horsetooth Half Marathon, and DaVinci supports the CSU Lagoon concert series with custom stage banners including sponsor logos in the company wide belief of community support.
