All-Star Cleaning is a home cleaning service founded in 2006 by Laura Christian in Fort Collins, CO. All-Star Cleaning offers regular home cleaning, deep cleaning, and move in/move out cleaning, all with non-toxic, eco-friendly products. After Laura’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer and entered treatment, Laura realized just how important having a clean home was to the physical and mental health of families going through treatment. As a result, All-Star Cleaning now offers free bi-weekly home cleaning to any family with a child being treated for cancer.
All-Star Cleaning sees what it does as much bigger than just cleaning homes. Someone’s physical space is a big contributor to their mental health and energy, positively or negatively. By taking the chore of cleaning off someone’s plate and giving them a consistently clean and tidy space, All-Star provides clients with a calmer and healthier home environment. Allowing someone to enter your home to clean up after you requires an immense amount of trust, which is why All-Star Cleaning’s first core value is personal responsibility. After every cleaning, the client completes a review, which allows the leadership team to identify one-off issues, a recurring issue with an individual employee, or a company-wide issue that needs to be addressed more broadly through training or changing processes.
All-Star Cleaning has a number of systems to ensure employees know where they stand and are recognized for going above and beyond. Positive reviews are shared with employees through a messaging system called Connecteam. One specific chat is called "Co-Worker Kudos" where employees are encouraged to brag about their coworkers. Negative feedback is treated as a learning opportunity and as many employees are young, they are often pleasantly surprised that receiving negative feedback doesn't mean getting yelled at or fired. When there are larger issues, Laura steps in to share her knowledge and experience, like when she recorded a video to reinforce good mopping technique after an uptick in customer remarks about steaks left after mopping.
All-Star Cleaning tries to have the same employee clean a client’s house each time. This allows them to build trust, understand the home to know where to focus, and to build a rapport with the client so that feedback is more candid and useful. Employees are given the autonomy to make decisions on the spot to resolve a customer concern, without needing to contact the home office to get approval. All-Star's feedback and issue reporting system means that any negative experience a customer has can be quickly addressed and positive experiences can be rewarded and reinforced.
In addition to the free biweekly cleanings for any family with a child going through cancer treatments, All-Star Cleaning gives back to the community in a number of ways. During the holidays, the company runs a toy drive where clients can easily participate by giving donated toys to their cleaning technician. All-Star hosts an annual blood drive with UC Health Garth Englund clinic. The company partners with local businesses to create a Pamper Package for new moms including cleaning, wine, and massage therapy. And All-Star Cleaning provides free cleaning for the facilities of a number of nonprofits including Torch Award winner Animal Friends Alliance.
