Basic Beginnings joined the BBB for one main reason—the word “trust.”

Donells Candies in Casper, Wyo., has BBB stickers on the sign behind the cash register and on the doors and windows of the shop to help promote its great customer service.

When the founding owners of Arrowhead Heating & Air Conditioning retired, longtime employee Michelle Sorensen wanted their customers to continue relying on a trustworthy business, so she purchased it in 2013.  
 

Ethics and trust, two cornerstones of the Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming, also are foundational to Blue Federal. The credit union started out in 1951 at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne and at the time was called Warren Federal Credit Union.

Business owner Jill Simonds used to think the BBB was focused on consumer ratings and reviews. Still, as a recent member, she loves that it also serves businesses and business owners. “This is actually a community and network of other businesses to grow and have a community built on trust, good ethics and values,” Simonds said. “There is established trust and core values across businesses that are accredited.”

As the owner of The Mortgage Source, Inc., Karen Saunders wants to make sure her clients understand the loan process before they think about buying a home. “It’s our job to help educate them so they know what they’re getting into,” said Saunders, president and loan originator of The Mortgage Source in Laramie, Wyo. “It’s developing a relationship so they understand that I work with them and for them to help them achieve their homeownership goals.”

Sheridan, Wyo., resident Clark Smyth figured accrediting his fishing store with the BBB fit with his values of putting the customer first.

“We had noticed some of our competition were offering services or products that veered away from customer appreciation, customer retention and professionalism,” said Smyth, president and co-owner of Rock Creek Anglers in Saddlestring, Wyo. “We wanted a way to standardize that and set ourselves apart.”
