BBB of Eastern Carolinas: Sponsor a Student Scholarship

BBB Torch Scholarships recognize students who personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through their leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, and academic history.

Torch Scholarships are given to college-bound high school juniors, seniors and college undergraduates who reside within BBB of Eastern Carolinas' 48-county service area. In 2023, BBB rewarded local students with a total of $23,000 in scholarships. To be eligible, students must submit a 30-90 second video, along with an application and transcript. Torch Scholarship winners will be honored at BBB's annual Awards and Recognitions ceremony.

Donations of all amounts are welcomed and appreciated. As in the past, a minimum donation of $1,000 is required for a named scholarship.  But please be aware any size donation to our scholarship fund is greatly appreciated. Contributors of $200-$999 will be grouped together to fund $1,000 scholarships and listed as donors.    

*In addition to named scholarships becoming available with a minimum donations of $1,000, as little as $200 will get you/your company listed as a scholarship donor.  Such a listing would be shared with at most four other donors. 

Additional benefits for donors of named scholarships include:

• Logo displayed on BBB Torch Scholarships webpage, bbbscholarship.org.
• Logo displayed on BBB Torch Scholarships application.
• Recognition on BBB Torch Scholarships flyer. Flyer will be distributed at BBB events including expos, speaking engagements, and Scambusters® presentations. Flyer will be included in packet that is sent to high schools, colleges, and universities in BBB of Eastern Carolinas' 48-county service area.
• Recognition on BBB’s Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn pages.
• Recognition in a minimum of 3 BBB press releases to local media outlets.
• Recognition in BBB’s consumer newsletter.
• Invitation to annual BBB Torch Awards Ceremony. Business will have the opportunity to participate in the presentation of scholarship.
• Recognition signage as a Scholarship sponsor at BBB Torch Awards Ceremony.
• Scholarship donation is tax deductible.
