Torch Awards of Greater Hampton Roads

The Torch Awards for Ethics (Torch Award) honors companies whose leaders demonstrate a high level of personal character and ensure that the organization’s practices meet the highest standards of ethics, and consequently generate trust.  These companies generate a high level of trust among their employees, customers and their communities.   

There are 6 principles of Trust. Those six principles base the criteria that all applicants answer which create ‪TRUST‬‬‬‬‬!

1. Transformation at the Top – A statement of commitment to ethical practices and how that is communicated throughout the company.
2. Reinforce and build – A communication of Ethical Practices - training, code of ethics, policies, employee recognition, or addressing violations.
3. Unite the Team – Practices to unify the organization – The “Vision”, “Mission”, “Core Business Values”, etc.
4. Steer Performance – An organizational commitment to performance management practices – Descriptions of policies that encourage employees to develop expertise in their areas.
5. Treasure People – An organizational commitment to ethical Human Resource practices.
6. Enthusiastically reinvest! - The organizational commitment to the community - This criteria allows the business to show their ethical beliefs through engagement with their industry and communities.
