Thank you to everyone who came out to take advantage of BBB’s bi-annual Shred Day on October 22^nd at Chattanooga Coca Cola Bottling Co. The event was co-sponsored by Times Free Press and Cumulus Media. More than 760 cars filled with local individuals and families drove through, dropping off 10 tons of paper for shredding by River City Shredding, 290 hard drives, 200 floppy disks, and 300 CD disks for destruction by Resource 1 Tier 3 Data Security, and 206 pounds of unneeded prescription drugs for safe disposal by Hamilton County Coalition. Resource 1 Tier 3 Data Security also reports that 4,287 pounds of toxic e-Waste was kept from entering our general waste streams.

BBB hosted our bi-annual Shred Days on April 22nd & April 29th. Residents were also able to carefully dispose of personal information to minimize their chance of have their information and identity stolen.

This was also a great opportunity to celebrate Earth Day by keeping documents and electronics out of our landfills and unneeded prescription drugs out of our waterways.

We are very thankful for our partners -- River City Shredding, Resource 1 Tier 3 Data Security, Coca Cola United, Hamilton County Coalition, Cumulus Radio, Times Free Press and the Clear Creek Church of Christ.

More than 900 individuals and families attended the events at Clear Creek Church of Christ and Coca Cola United, and brought nearly 13 tons of paper for onsite shredding by River City Shredding. Also, 149 hard drives and 239 CDs/Floppies were destroyed by Resource 1 Tier 3 Data Security, who collected more than 3,700 pounds of electronics for recycling. Two hundred seventy pounds of bottles of unneeded prescription drugs were dropped off with the Hamilton County Coalition for safe disposal.
