Six TV Trends to Watch

The entertainment industry can be hard to keep up with. It feels like every day a new company comes up with the next best thing in television technology. Television makers are constantly updating and changing to align with the modern consumer. It’s important to be educated about what’s going on in the industry, so you can get what meets your needs with the most up-to-date technology.

With that in mind, here are some new and upcoming television trends:

  1. Streaming capabilities. The world of streaming services is not going away anytime soon. In addition to popular services like Hulu and Netflix, Disney is planning on joining the streaming game.
  2. Internal processing power. This will allow for higher switching between content options, such as broadcast TV, streaming services, external devices, and popular entertainment providers to be simple and fast.
  3. High dynamic range – or HDR. This technology brings out colors in your HDR- content. Streaming services are starting to offer HDR content on their platforms.
  4. Voice interaction. Many TVs have the ability to interact with just your voice using a microphone in the remote control. Using this, the viewer can change channels and the volume of the TV. Some companies are even considering the ability to use voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant through the TV.
  5. Interactivity. Like childhood “Choose Your Own Adventure Books” that concept is coming to TV. Interactivity gives viewers the opportunity to choose what happens to their favorite characters on the screen. Late in 2018, Netflix released the first interactive content on its streaming service. It looks like there is more to come.
  6. 4K and 8K resolution. This refers to the television’s resolution -- the higher the resolution, the cleaner, better-defined the picture.
