The BBB Charity Seal is a BBB verified logo with a clickable link that allows you to advertise that your organization meets BBB Charity Standards on your website, linking directly to your BBB Charity report. Your donors will then be able to access vital information that boosts consumer confidence, including your BBB Accreditation status.
Those charities that meet all 20 Charity Accountability Standards have the opportunity to convey their commitment to accountability and adherence to strong and comprehensive standards by displaying the BBB Charity Seal. The BBB Accreditation Charity Seal may be displayed in transient advertising and solicitations such as direct mail, annual reports, newsletters, television and print advertisements, billboards, and radio advertisements. The BBB Accredited Charity seal can also be displayed on your organization’s website; with one click donors are directed to your BBB Charity Review.
Gain access to your BBB Charity Seal by signing the Charity Seal licensing agreement and submitting your annual Charity Seal fee. The annual Charity Seal fee is determined by total contribution revenue from an organization’s most current financial statements. Total contribution revenue is calculated to include all revenues received as a result of fundraising activities.
How will a seal assist donors?
The seal provides clear, concise and accessible means for potential donors to find out if a charity meets the comprehensive standards established by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance. Charities that qualify for the seal will be able to display the seal in printed solicitation materials, in advertisements, on their websites and in other approved venues. Furthermore, the seal will help to extend public awareness of the local BBB’s work in charity accountability.
How will a seal assist charities?
The seal provides charities with a widely recognized and meaningful mechanism by which to demonstrate their commitment to accountability and ethical practices. The display of the seal instantly conveys to the donor the charity’s adherence to strong and comprehensive standards.
Which charities are eligible to display the seal?
Publicly soliciting charities that have been reviewed by the local BBB Charity Review Service and meet all of the applicable Standards for Charity Accountability are eligible to apply for the seal. Currently, the local BBB reports on area charities that request to be reviewed or have been subject of recent public inquiries. However, if a charity has not yet been evaluated and is interested in applying for the seal program, the local BBB will complete the requisite evaluation in relation to standards.
Will the local BBB continue to report on area charities that do not apply for the seal and/or do not meet standards?
Yes, the local BBB will continue to produce reports on those area charities that are the subject of recent inquiries regardless of whether the subject charity intends to apply for the seal. Reports on those charities that meet and those organizations that do not meet standards are freely accessible at bbb.org/akron.
