In 1975, Tim Baker founded Baker's Waterproofing with only his pick-up truck. In 2012, Tim's son, Brian, bought the business and expanded its products and services. Baker's Waterproofing wanted to give their customers and employees more opportunities and expand the business, so in 2021, they joined forces with Groundworks, the nation’s leading and fastest-growing foundation and water management solutions company.
Baker's Waterproofing has seen exponential growth in the last year, while continuing to provide exceptional service to their customers. Baker’s Waterproofing is a multi-time winner of the Pittsburgh Top Workplaces award and has been a BBB Accredited Business for over 20 years. Baker's has additionally made their impact on the local community by partnering with organizations, such as the Washington Area Humane Society and Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh. Their reputation and history in the community has led to thousands of satisfied customers and repaired homes. The Baker family and the entire team is honored to be receiving the 2022 BBB Torch Award for Ethics.
“We are humbled to be receiving the Torch Award for Ethics,” says Tom Eckersley, General Manager of Baker’s Waterproofing. “This honor validates one of our core beliefs, excellent customer service. Helping our customers with integrity has been our highest priority over the past 47 years, and we will continue to focus on this in the future.”
According to Torch Awards judge, Jim Weber, “Baker’s Waterproofing’s core values include work being done right, open and honest relationships, quality service, growth and embracing meritocracy. The company allows their employees to excel, promoting upward mobility within the organization, and encourages their employees to give customers a 5-star experience at all parts of the process.”
“Baker's Waterproofing provided examples of effective ethical practice such as "extreme ownership" of customer projects, and gave strong consideration to internal factors like career progress for employees,” says Torch Awards judge, Alwasi Opoku-Dakwa. “The effectiveness of these processes is reflected in their positive customer reviews.”
