Issue: South College will not honor grants/scholarships as promised; forcing payment out of pocket after misleading me as a student; negligence to educate students as financial advisors In February 2022, I enrolled with South College. They were very involved; they'd call, text, email nearly daily. I was promised grants/scholarships for enrollment and was advised that I qualified for student loans. However, after my first quarter with South College I noticed that one of the grants had not been applied to the semester balance. I reached out to my financial aid counselor immediately requesting clarification. I emailed three separate times, two people, and called and spoke with a different advisor over the phone. I was reassured that these grants can take multiple weeks to be applied to an account and that if there were any issues the office would reach out. Nobody ever reached out, so I proceeded with a second quarter. After my second quarter, I no longer wanted to attend. I am now trying to retrieve my transcripts to which SC is holding hostage until my balance is paid. However, they are now telling me I never completed entrance counseling, which is a lie. This was completed, and I have an email proving they had received this required document. I now must pay this balance out of pocket. However, failure to respond to all of my inquiries when the issue was first presented is what has led to this point. SC has offered to clear half of the balance if I pay half up front, which I did not anticipate to pay out of pocket. I would like my transcripts released, and to pay 1/4 of this balance owed only due to negligence by the school to properly educate (their literal job) and advise me as a student. As a financial advisor, it is their job to process my forms and alert me if there is an error. Attached are screen shots of several occasions I reached out to the school for clarification.
