2019 Mold Doctors sold me a service of waterproofing my crawlspace, mold treatment, a dehumidifier, new insulation, sump pump and footer track. They neglected for over a year to get my paperwork, and warranty to me. Their crew was a group of young men that were not professional, and spent a great deal of time smoking. They left the old wet insulation in my front yard for over a week. I made several calls to my contact Stephen King, and referred me to Jeremy which proved to me useless. The company's owner and sales representative like to deny responsibility for anything. They put it on each other. My very expensive dehumidifier was plugged in and appeared to be running. However, it wasn't running properly. Instead it was dumping water back into my foundation. Of course, owner Jeremy claims he had nothing g to do with it. That it was the responsibility of a company called Trusted Waterproofing/Boundary or what is now 58 Foundation. He claims they dissolved their ties with these companies. Jeremy's wife, Ashley also had some involvement with trusted waterproofing. The sump pump they installed has yet to work. The main reason it's not working is because there were pieces of elbows that would help lead water to the sump pump, completely left out! I had to hire a structural engineer to find all of this out! Because I could hear the dehumidifier working, I assumed it was working! To my dismay and bad decision of hiring Mold Doctors, my crawlspace is in worse shape than before I hired Mold Doctors. I have a newly built home that has over $20,000.00 worth of bad decisions in my crawlspace. DO NOT hire this company or recommend them to anyone! Jeremy Akers the owner was no help, and had no remorse for his companies bad performance.

Jeremy came out to my house and looked at the beams in my crawlspace. He said that the mold was graded at a 5/10. He told me that what needed to be done was to clean the mold, put a new vapor barrier down and install a new dehumidifier. He said that the cost would be 5,000.00. I was sent a contract, that I did not look at in detail until the day of the work. I trusted him and the reviews that I used to base my trust on, until I realized that I had been taken advantage of. The workers called me at 10:30 the morning of the job to let me know that they had to go to a few shops to pick up supplies before they arrived to do the work. I was a bit surprised that they did not plan ahead and have the supplies on hand as this was scheduled for a few weeks prior. They also told me that the job was much smaller than anticipated and instead of the two days that they scheduled me for, they were only going to need to be at my home for the day. I had a 1/2 day of work and arrived home at 12:30pm. The workers were sitting in a truck in my driveway. They were surprised to see me as my arrival was unexpected. I assumed that they were on lunch. When I walked up to them, they told me that I had very little mold in the crawlspace and it was really just some spores that they had to spot clean. When I went into my home, they went back down in the crawlspace to work. I could hear them inside the house as they had started some music. The music was turned off after 45 minutes. I went down at 2:15 and one of the guys was sitting outside smoking a cigarette and the other was walking around the other side of the house looking to see if he could use my bathroom. I told the guy he could use my bathroom but I needed to put some soap and towels in it. After getting the bathroom straight, I went back down to let him know that it was ready for him. He said that he no longer needed it. I went back into my home to look at my contract in more detail. As per the contract, it stated that two men were contracted for 2 days of work with a total of 14 hours. of work. They were supposed to clean 1400 square feet of rafters. I was charged for a fan that was supposed to run for 24 hours and it was never used. I was charged for special clothing that the workmen were supposed to wear. They had shorts and tee shirts on. That was when I realized that I was taken advantage of. At 3:15, the men came up and told me that they were taking an hour lunch. I was surprised as I thought that they had already taken their lunch. And, they did not return for an hour and 1/2! I would love to work at this job! I requested an amended contract from the Supervisor over the phone after providing the specifics of what was being done vs what I was being charged for. The supervisor, director of operations, told me that the estimate that I was given was just an estimate and that I would be given an amended contract. based on the work that was done. That evening, to my chagrin, the owner of the company sent me a flurry of very detailed threatening emails telling me that I was not going to receive any amended contract and that I was not permitted to sue them because I signed a contract ahead of time saying that I would not. He told me that he would put a lien on my residence if I did not pay it and various other threats. He never addressed the differences in what the contract stated line by line and what was done. I sent all of the posts including the contract to my brother in law who is an attorney in Manhattan and he told me not to pay it; they were indeed taking advantage of me. The whole situation was making me sick to my stomach and I just no longer wanted to deal with such a nasty person, and so I just stuck a check in the mail for the amount of the estimate and sent it to the business address on the contract. The next day, the Director of Operations sent me a post with an amended amount - it was indeed a few hundred less than what was originally quoted, but still much more than I should have been charged for. Since I had already mailed a check for the larger amount, I called and told him to take the balance and send it KARM (a homeless shelter in Knoxville). He then informed me that they were having multiple problems receiving mail at their address. and were trying to work it out. I received a post the next week from the owner stating that he did not receive the check as yet. I informed him know that I was aware that he had issues with the post office and just to wait. If you can believe it, I received another note a week later stating that they still did not receive it and that I should put a stop on my own check. Then another post threatening to put a lien on my residence if I did not pay him immediately and that it was my responsibility for me to pay for the stop-payment. I called the director of operations and told him to take the check out of my mailbox the next day and I did end up putting the stop payment on my own check. In the end, it should be noted that I did receive the new vapor barrier, dehumidifier and they had done a spot cleaning of the spores. However, the cost should have been much less based on a corrected invoice. The unprofessionalism, the threats, and cheating were really something that I have never truly encountered in a business like this. I am an older, single woman. who this man looked at, he saw my situation, my trusting and affable nature and decided to take advantage of me. I have documented all and have all emails to back-up this whole situation. The whole thing made me sick and I just want to warn others about them.

I can only state the facts. We referred an engineer to Ms ***** who helped guide her in the reconstruction of a collapsing creek wall that normally would require TDEC oversight. We did not charge a concurring fee for that.

We submitted an estimate for Ms ***** in late 2020. She hired us in late 2021. We honored our estimate after 90 days had expired. We did not increase the price of material that we ourselves have had to pay. We absorbed the increased cost of 10 mil vapor barrier also absorbed the cost increase on the $2000 piece of equipment we installed .

Some how the increased cost in materials and labor that we did not pass along to a customer has been misrepresented as taking advantage of a single lady who is younger than most of our parents.

There were no issues until our guys took multiple break from the 98 degree weather. The first complaint came that day regarding " breaks" the employees were taking. The second complaint came when we requested payment for services described in our signed contract.

We proposed multiple options for payment, mail a check, pay with credit card or meet one of our employees to pay. Ms ***** attempted practically attempted extortion before mailing her payment. She then decided after her check never arrived after 14 days (west knox mail to west knox mail) that we were responsible for her cancelled check fee. Keep in mind mailing a check was not an option given.

    The total job was $5000.00.

The equipment and material was $3000.00 no labor included . If That's taking advantage of a customer. Then we should be crucified.

Ms ***** continued to call and send harassing emails .

For this reason no one should ever work for such a volatile customer.

This is not worth responding to. However, Please make sure that you ask for the contract up front before receiving a price. For your own sake, do your homework ahead of time and do not trust a company because they seem to have good reviews. I have had a substantial amount of construction work done on my homes and this is the first time that I have had to deal with abuse from a contractor. I have the emails to back up my statements as well as the contract.

thank your for the response. You had at least 5 months to review our scope of work prior to signing contract I suppose if any given person were to visit your eye clinic, they would receive a copy of or details of a procedure prior to singing an agreement to pay. In some cases, I'm certain many patients arrive and leave not knowing what is going to be billed.

We were completely transparent amd in 16 years of doing business , we have not had a customer begin harassing employees prior to a job being completed, harass employees after the job is completed and attempt to extort us the way you did by threatening us with friends who are presidents at banks and relatives who are attorneys in New York.

Abuse is a strong word and very near to liable and Slander . You did have a fair amount of construction on your home due to poor construction of a deck and retaining wall. Initially you wanted to remove the deck in one piece. Obviously there is some understanding of construction that is absent. An estimate was given. A contract was signed, the work proposed was completed. You are welcome. Without the referral we gave you for Todd, your deck may still be sliding away from your house. Your claims of Abuse are erroneous and disturbing. Unfortunately you had to pay like most Americans for work to their Home. That is why you are so upset about.

This is my final comment. I can not believe the unprofessional manner in which this company does business. Almost every item on a contract that was given to me, that I took in good faith, was not fulfilled. When I called the gentleman that has a supervisory position in the company, whose name was on the contract, he told me that they just plugged some numbers into the computer and it spits out the contract. He then said that the contract was just an estimate and is amended based on the amount of work done. The clean up, which was to occur over two days, using special equipment and clothing by those taking care of the job, which was put line-by-line on the contract was completely false. The clean-up was taken care of by the two men in less than an hour with no special equipment. The invoice was adjusted by $600.00 after I endured many emails going back and forth with ridiculous accusations and comments that were meant to hide the facts. It was unnecessary. If the contract needed to be amended based on a change in the cost of materials, then so be it, it would have been paid. I am an honest, faithful person with an excellent credit rating. I have dealt with many professionals with the four homes that I have owned and I have never had to write a one star review for any of them. I trusted, in good faith, what I was promised would happen and it did not. To conclude, the dehumidifier, which was billed at $2000.00 is listed on the internet from DIY crawlspace at a cost of $989.00. I have nothing else to add.
