BBB Warns of Fidget Spinner Scam

June 28, 2017

Kitchener/Toronto - BBB serving Central Ontario is warning consumers about a possible scam involving the online purchase of fidget spinners. On June 27, 2017, BBB issued an F rating to after a pattern of complaints concerning the company’s failure to fulfill numerous online orders.

Information received by BBB suggests the company has accepted payments for large orders of fidget spinners through their website and Facebook; however, to date, we cannot confirm that any consumers have received their order. Instead, consumers are reporting that after placing orders and submitting payment, the company ceases all contact and the fidget spinners are never shipped. Many consumers also state that multiple attempts to contact the company via email, phone, webchat, and Facebook have been unsuccessful.

BBB has reason to believe is linked to a company we’ve previously issued two warnings about: Firefly Scooters. In June 2016, Firefly Scooters was found to be offering hoverboard scooters for sale online, with consumers reporting their orders were delivered damaged or simply never delivered at all. Many individuals were unable to recover their lost funds.

BBB has notified the business of our concerns and requested that they work towards correcting the underlying reason for the complaints. We are currently waiting on a response from the company.
