Brown Roofing installed a new roof which was completed in January, 2020. The roof warranty is for 50 years with a 10-year workmanship installation warranty provided by Brown Roofing LLC. On March 11, 2024 I noticed some shingles on the North portion of my roof was buckling. I took a picture and sent it to Brown Roofing. ***** ***** returned my email and we agreed to meet at my house on March 13 to determine the cause for the roof buckling. After looking in the attic, climbing on the roof, and counting the number of soffit vents, *** ***** came to the conclusion that the cause of the roof buckling was moisture collecting due to insufficient attic ventilation and that additional soffit vents should be installed. I asked if he does a ventilation calculation per code and he said yes, but only on the exhaust side. He does not validate soffit venting requirements. I asked if there was an issue using a ridge vent, box vent, and gable vent fan collectively and he said Yes, however, my attic spaces are separate and subsequent use of competing vents is ok. I advised him my attic spaces are NOT totally separate and he would have known that if he inspected the entire attic. I advised I’ve read that using multiple venting solutions can create negative pressure resulting in poor ventilation and moisture problems. He disagreed and refused to perform any testing, remediation, or further work. I am willing to allow Brown Roofing to correct the issues if a step by step plan is developed and implemented by Brown Roofing, approved by me, at no cost to me.
